Melting phlogopite-rich MARID: Lamproites and the role of alkalis in olivine-liquid Ni-partitioning

2018

Abstract In this study, we show how veined lithospheric mantle is involved in the genesis of ultrapotassic magmatism in cratonic settings. We conducted high pressure experiments to simulate vein + wall rock melting within the Earth's lithospheric mantle by reacting assemblages of harzburgite and phlogopite-rich hydrous mantle xenoliths. These comprised a mica-, amphibole-, rutile-, ilmenite-, diopside (MARID) assemblage at 3–5 GPa and 1325–1450 °C. Melting of the MARID assemblages results in infiltration of melt through the harzburgite, leading to its chemical alteration. At 3 and 4 GPa, melts are high in K2O (> 9 wt%) with K2O/Na2O > > 2 comparable to anorogenic lamproites. Higher pressure…

In-vivo-Konfokalmikroskopie in der Diagnose des okulären Schleimhautpemphigoids

2015

Verfahren…

Optically Active Hyperbranched Polyglycerol as Scaffold for Covalent and Noncovalent Immobilization of Platinum(II) NCN-Pincer Complexes. Catalytic A…

2004

New optically active hyperbranched polymers have been used as microenvironments as well as scaffolds for noncovalent and covalent immobilization of pincer platinum(II) complexes, respectively. The catalytic activity/selectivity of the incorporated platinum(II) complexes in these polymeric chiral supports was investigated. Chiral amphiphilic hyperbranched polyglycerols with core−shell “nanocapsules” structure, namely (−)-P(G40C160.5) (1) and (+)-P(G73C160.5) (2), have been prepared in two straightforward steps by ring-opening multibranching polymerization (ROMBP) of either (−)- or (+)-glycidol, resulting in (−)-PG40 (Mn = 3000, Mw/Mn = 1.3) or (+)-PG73 (Mn = 5500, Mw/Mn = 1.6), respectively.…

P(HPMA)-block-P(LA) copolymers in paclitaxel formulations: Polylactide stereochemistry controls micellization, cellular uptake kinetics, intracellula…

2012

In order to explore the influence of polymer microstructure and stereochemistry in biological settings, the synthesis, micellization, cellular fate and the use in paclitaxel formulations of poly(N-(2-hydroxypropyl)-methacrylamide)-block-poly(L-lactide) (P(HPMA)-block-P(LLA)) and poly(N-(2-hydroxypropyl)-methacrylamide)-block-poly(DL-lactide) block copolymers (P(HPMA)-block-P(DLLA)) were studied. To this end, P(HPMA)-block-P(lactide) block copolymers and their fluorescently labeled analogues were synthesized. The polymers exhibited molecular weights M-n around 20,000 g/mol with dispersities (D=M-w/M-n) below 1.3. In addition, the solution conformation of this new type of partially degradable…

La voce, il gesto, la scena. Elementi teatrali nelle commedie latine del XII e XIII secolo

2019

In vivo optical coherence tomography imaging in a case of mucous membrane pemphigoid and a negative Nikolsky's sign.

2017

There is currently a growing interest in new diagnostic tools of the oral cavity and mucosa which are non-invasive, repeatable and reliable. A diagnosis of a suspected, autoimmune pathology was made regarding a 57-year-old patient with desquamative gingivitis. However, a negative Nikolsky's sign did not seem to indicate a diagnosis of mucous membrane pemphigoid neither was there any indication as to the optimum location for an incisional biopsy. As an imaging method, the use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) has enabled the obtaining of tomographic (cross-sectional) scans of tissue. Such images are acquired prior to and after verifying Nikolsky's sign, thereby enabling the clinician to …

Antiamphiphysin-positive stiff-person syndrome associated with small cell lung cancer

2006

The paraneoplastic amphiphysin(+) stiff-person syndrome (SPS) has so far only been described in women with breast adenocarcinoma. Here, we describe the rare case of a female patient with antiamphiphysin(+) SPS due to small cell cancer of the lung.

Treatment of pemphigus vulgaris with mycophenolate mofetil

1997

different pattern of diffusion changes in a 51-year-old woman with chronic epilepsy and recurrent episodes of focal status epilepticus, for whom no aetiology could be established. Status consisted of clonic jerking of the right leg, which continued for 22 days and was followed by transient paresis. DWI during status showed decreased diffusion in the motor cortex of the right leg (relative decrease in ADC of 27%, see figure). Surprisingly, the diffusion was increased in the subcortical white matter (relative increase in ADC of 31%). On the T2-weighted image (not shown), both cortex and subcortical white matter of the corresponding region returned a high signal similar to previously reported …
