Two new sesquiterpene derivatives from the Tunisian endemic Ferula tunetana Pom.
2010
A new sesquiterpene ester, tunetanin A (1), a new sesquiterpene coumarin, tunetacoumarin A (2), together with eight known compounds, i.e., coladin (3), coladonin (4), isosmarcandin (5), 13-hydroxyfeselol (6), umbelliprenin (7) propiophenone (8), beta-sitosterol (9), and stigmasterol (10), were isolated from the roots of Ferula tunetana. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods, including 1D- and 2D-NMR experiments and MS analysis, as well as by comparison with published data. The cytotoxicity of compounds 1-7 towards two human colon cancer cell lines, HT-29 and HCT 116, was evaluated. Compounds 3, 4, and 6 showed weak cytotoxic activities.
New In-Depth Analytical Approach of the Porcine Seminal Plasma Proteome Reveals Potential Fertility Biomarkers
2018
A complete characterization of the proteome of seminal plasma (SP) is an essential step to understand how SP influences sperm function and fertility after artificial insemination (AI). The purpose of this study was to identify which among characterized proteins in boar SP were differently expressed among AI boars with significantly different fertility outcomes. A total of 872 SP proteins, 390 of them belonging specifically to Sus Scrofa taxonomy, were identified (Experiment 1) by using a novel proteomic approach that combined size exclusion chromatography and solid-phase extraction as prefractionation steps prior to Nano LC-ESI-MS/MS analysis. The SP proteomes of 26 boars showing significan…
Changes in disease burden in Poland between 1990-2017 in comparison with other Central European countries: A systematic analysis for the Global Burde…
2020
Background Systematic collection of mortality/morbidity data over time is crucial for monitoring trends in population health, developing health policies, assessing the impact of health programs. In Poland, a comprehensive analysis describing trends in disease burden for major conditions has never been published. The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) provides data on the burden of over 300 diseases in 195 countries since 1990. We used the GBD database to undertake an assessment of disease burden in Poland, evaluate changes in population health between 1990–2017, and compare Poland with other Central European (CE) countries. Methods The results of GBD 2017 for …
Detection of Irradiated Food and Evaluation of the Given Dose by Electron Spin Resonance, Thermoluminescence, and Gas Chromatographic/Mass Spectromet…
2018
Abstract The treatment of food with ionizing radiation, at doses lower than 10 kGy, is a preservation technology, which can be used to reduce food spoilage due to microorganisms and to decrease insect infestation, enhancing, in the same time, the hygienic quality, extending the shelf life of food itself. In order to increase the general consumer acceptance and accordingly to facilitate the commercialization and trade of irradiated food, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) validated reliable analytical techniques to identify irradiated foodstuffs for legal control purposes, distinguished in Chemical, Physical, and Microbiological ones, depending on the characteristics of marker …
Global sensitivity analysis for urban water quality modelling: Terminology, convergence and comparison of different methods
2015
Abstract Sensitivity analysis represents an important step in improving the understanding and use of environmental models. Indeed, by means of global sensitivity analysis (GSA), modellers may identify both important ( factor prioritisation ) and non-influential ( factor fixing ) model factors. No general rule has yet been defined for verifying the convergence of the GSA methods. In order to fill this gap this paper presents a convergence analysis of three widely used GSA methods (SRC, Extended FAST and Morris screening) for an urban drainage stormwater quality–quantity model. After the convergence was achieved the results of each method were compared. In particular, a discussion on peculiar…
Experimental Study of the Laser Cutting Process on 1C45 - 3 mm Steel
2014
The Paper Presents the Measurement Systems Analysis, System Capability and Optimization of a Laser Cutting System for 3 Mm Alloy Steel. for the Measurement System Analysis and System Capability the Data was Introduced in a Excel Sheet which was Designed According to QS9000 Standard (Measurement System Analysis) to Calculate the Measuring System Repeatability, Reproducibility and Capability. Design of Experiment (DOE) was Used for Process Optimization the Optimization was Conducted in an Operational Manufacturing Environment and was Based on the Design of a 25 Full Factorial Experiment. the Laser Parameters (input) were Feed Rate v, Gas Pressure p, Power P, Frequency F and Efficiency R while…

Neuronal network characteristics in the cat superior colliculus
1977
The system theoretical description of the superficial layers of neurons in the cat's superior colliculus is based on homogeneous linear space-time filters. The most important neurophysiological findings on the superior colliculus are simulated on the digital computer by generating suitable coupling functions and matching the space and time parameters. It is shown that the neurophysiological measurements can be interpreted by varying a few system parameters. The curves of velocity dependent responses, direction specificity and the effects of the colliculus specific surround are examined in particular. Computer simulation shows that such a surround can evaluate small moving stimuli differentl…
Dynamic Performance Management
2016
This book explores how to design and implement planning & control (P&C) systems that can help organizations to manage their growth and restructuring processes in a sustainability perspective. The book is not designed to enable the reader to become an experienced system dynamics modeler; rather, it aims to develop the reader’s capabilities to design and implement performance management systems by using a system dynamics approach. More specifically, the book shows how to develop system dynamics models that can better support an understanding of: -What is organizational performance and how to frame and measure it; -How to identify and map the processes underlying performance; -How to d…
Water Extract of Cryphaea heteromalla (Hedw.) D. Mohr Bryophyte as a Natural Powerful Source of Biologically Active Compounds
2019
Bryophytes comprise of the mosses, liverworts, and hornworts. Cryphaea heteromalla, (Hedw.) D. Mohr, is a non-vascular lower plant belonging to mosses group. To the date, the most chemically characterized species belong to the liverworts, while only 3.2% and 8.8% of the species belonging to the mosses and hornworts, respectively, have been investigated. In this work, we present Folin–Ciocalteu and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) data related to crude extracts of C. heteromalla obtained by three di erent extraction solvents: pure water (WT), methanol:water (80:20 v/v) (MET), and ethanol:water (80:20 v/v) (ETH). The water extract proved to be the best solvent showing the highest con…
