Wii-bändi : designing an expressive digital musical interface for therapeutic use with disabled people in a group setting

This thesis presents the developmental prototype of a gesturally controlled digital musical interface. It is called Wii-bändi, as it uses Nintendo Wii controllers to translate the gestures into music, and is constructed specifically for clients with a variety of physical and mental disabilities so that they can use it in a therapeutic group context. It is argued that gestural and emotional expressivity might be based on a theory of vitality affects, and that optimal learnability could be achieved through making use of learning schemas. Effect of tempo and vision on interpersonal coordination of timing in dyadic performance

Interpersonal coordination within a dyadic musical performance requires that the two musicians share a similar mental model of the music’s timing structure. In addition to non-fluctuating inter-onset-interval, matched mental models can be observed through corporeal articulations and apparent embodiment of musical features (i.e. synchronous body sway, mimicked or complementary gestures). El proceso de enseñanza/aprendizaje musical puede contribuir al desarrollo de actitudes interculturales siempre que el aula se convierta en un punto de encuentro, de experimentación y de intercambio. Para garantizar dicha conversión, se precisan unos recursos musicales basados en el trabajo cooperativo como herramienta educativa esencial de la diversidad cultural. En este artículo se han incluido actividades de improvisación desarrolladas en primaria que permiten el trabajo de competencias sociales y afectivas, imprescindibles para la consecución de la interculturalidad.

Importancia del aula de Música para el proceso educativo intercultural

Resumen basado en el de la publicación La educación musical puede convertirse en una herramienta imprescindible para educar interculturalmente. A través de la adecuada práctica se pueden trabajar aspectos como la aceptación de otras propuestas, de otros comportamientos, se puede conseguir la apreciación y aceptación de la diferencia y el enriquecimiento que supone. La música es algo más que un proceso creativo: es un proceso comunicativo y educativo que debe ser aprovechado para conseguir la interculturalidad. Se muestra una revisión de propuestas publicadas hasta la fecha y se proponen líneas de actuación para aprovechar el aula como espacio de trabajo de la preciada interculturalidad. ESP
