Weyers acrodental dysostosis in a family.
1984
A four generation family with postaxial polydactyly of hands and feet and dental anomalies is reported. Lower and upper incisors were abnormal in shape and number. Additional findings were prominent ear anthelices, hypoplastic and dysplastic nails and mild shortness of stature. Inheritance was dominant with variable expression. It is proposed that the family presents the syndrome of acrofacial dysostosis described by Weyers in 1952. To differentiate it from other acrofacial dysostoses, we suggest naming the condition acrodental dysostosis.
Modern health worries and idiopathic environmental intolerance.
2008
Abstract Objective We conducted two studies to test whether modern health worries (MHWs) were associated with central features of a condition called idiopathic environmental intolerance (IEI) and medical care utilization. Methods In Study 1, 474 Internet users completed an Internet-based questionnaire that assessed MHWs, IEI features, and medical care utilization. In Study 2, the diagnostic specificity of MHWs was investigated by comparing the level of MHWs of three diagnostic groups: 46 people with IEI, 38 people with somatoform disorder but without IEI, and 46 people with neither IEI nor somatoform disorder. Results The good psychometric properties of the MHW scale were confirmed. MHWs we…
Glatiramer acetate during early pregnancy: A prospective cohort study
2016
Background: Only limited data are available on whether glatiramer acetate exposure during pregnancy has an effect on perinatal outcome. Objective: To determine the effect of glatiramer acetate exposure during pregnancy on pregnancy outcomes in women with multiple sclerosis. Methods: We compared the outcome of pregnancies of women with multiple sclerosis exposed to glatiramer acetate with pregnancies unexposed to disease-modifying therapies. Women were enrolled into the German Multiple Sclerosis and Pregnancy registry. A standardized questionnaire was administered during pregnancy and postpartum. Detailed information on course of multiple sclerosis and pregnancy, concomitant medications, lab…
Clinical cardiac assessment in newborns with prenatally diagnosed intrathoracic masses
2018
Abstract Background Congenital space-occupying thoracic malformations and diaphragmatic hernia have in common pulmonary hypoplasia. Our study aims to assess cardiac involvement during post-natal adaptation. Methods A retrospective study was carried out on newborns with prenatally diagnosed intrathoracic mass. Gathering for respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), 35 neonates were compared for clinical course, cardiovascular enzymes, ECG, and ultrasound. Results The analysis revealed a high left heart defect rate in patients with severe RDS, without being influenced by the laterality. Ultrasound or laboratory assessment did not detect altered cardiac dimension or cardiomyopathy. Solely ECG signs…

Multicriteria Prioritization for Multistage Implementation of Complex Urban Renewal Projects
2015
Renewal projects on neighborhood scale often include several sub projects aiming at fulfill the different functions of urban areas, while public funds or activated public-private partnership can be insufficient to face the implementation of subprojects simultaneously. Therefore single parts of wider projects are frequently realized at different period of time, according to the availability of public funds or the interest of private partners in the most profitable projects. Although a major organizational effort of funding could be necessary, a more rational approach is required, which will be able to identify the most suitable sequence of realization ensuring the greatest advantage if non c…
A Decision Analysis Approach to Multiple-Choice Examinations
1998
We present a decision analysis approach to the problems faced by people subject to multiple-choice examinations, as often encountered in their education, in looking for a job, or in getting a driving permit.
Principles for Solving Sequential Multiple Criteria Decision Problems
1983
In this paper a sequential multiple criteria decision problem is studied. The problem arises, when a decision maker is unable to consider all possible decision alternatives simultaneously. If the decision maker evaluates only a subset of all decisions from among which he chooses the most preferred alternative, it is not necessarily 'globally' best. In this context an interesting question is, how good the most preferred alternative is and what the chances are of finding a better solution by considering additional alternatives. The principles of a an approach based on probability theory to solving this problem are described and illustrated with numerical examples.
Cytotoxicity and apoptosis induction by Fumaria officinalis extracts in leukemia and multiple myeloma cell lines
2021
Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance Fumaria officinalis (Fumariaceae) is recorded in the Kurdish ethnobotany for various health problems. Aim of the study: In this study, the cytotoxic activity of F. officinalis extracts on two leukemia and nine multiple myeloma (MM) cell lines was investigated. Materials and methods: The cytotoxic and ferroptotic activity were examined by resazurin reduction assay. Flow cytometry, immunoblotting assay and fluorescence microscopy were used to measure cell cycle distribution, apoptosis, induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), loss integrity of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and autophagy. LC-ESI/MS was used to identify chemical constituents p…
