‘A Swarm of Sound’
2022
Author's accepted manuscript. This article explores the idea of audiovisual immersion through the portal of the virtual reality music video. Our focus falls on a close reading of Björk’s video, ‘Family’, which addresses questions of immersion in relation to user-experience, staging, and technological innovation. This article draws on the authors’ responses to the video by considering the implications of VR immersion in a new generation of music video productions. As part of the methodology on offer, a model for music analysis is devised for conceptualising virtual audiovisual space (VAVS) and the inextricable relationships between production and compositional design.
Raus aus der Spur : Brachte Rockmusik die Mauer ins Wanken?
2019
Rethinking Music Practise-Sessions beyond Poiesis and Praxis - Towards Practising Democracy
2022
How can the (seemingly isolated) process of practising a musical instrument in the context of practice sessions be seen as enabling students to develop skills “that are needed to keep democracies alive’ (Nussbaum, 2010, p. 2). How can we encourage this further? The approach is to explore the various potentials of the practise session to be something more than mere training. An exploration that can be instrumentally fostered in a study environment (formal or informal) through a practical pedagogical approach, not to reach a specific end — i.e. defined learning outcomes — but to result in the student transcending the professional competence acquisition situation to gai…
Vinn-vinn?
2021
Collaboration between grunnskole (primary schools) and kulturskole (culture schools) has been promoted in policy documents since the 1980s. In several municipalities, different models for cooperation are being tested. This chapter is based on a study of a specific collaborative project, called “Sentrums-prosjektet”. The purpose of the study was to provide more knowledge about such collaborations. The investigation had a case study design and the data consisted of interviews and participatory observation. The collaborative project is described and understood in light of the various schools’ curriculum and previous research. We investigate whether this is a “win-win collaboration” or an “aid …
Crossroads in Music : Tales from the MOVE project about musical education, culture and exchange
2018
Master's thesis Fine Arts KF500 - University of Agder 2018 Once a year a group of young musicians set out on a journey that will be quite unlike anything they have experienced before. Most of them will travel several thousand kilometers and partake in a culture that is vastly different from their own. The project they are partaking in is called MOVE (Musicians and Organizers VolunteersExchange) and is an international exchange with the aim of giving young musicians and organizers the opportunity to work with music and culture in a vastly different environment than their own, and thereby exchange competency, experiences and ideas. This thesis is agathering of narrativesfrom the MOVE project …

Comparative study of adult music education in Norway and Bosnia and Herzegovina – challenges and developmental opportunities in a developing country
2016
Master's thesis in music management MU501 - University of Agder 2016 The researcher has discovered that adult non-formal education is of great importance for individuals as well as society at large. Up until now, in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIH) which is a developing countryi, no research has been undertaken to shed a light on the possibilities of the development of adult music learning. Building on rich experiences in Norway, an attempt is made to draw parallels between the two systems and provide a set of recommendations so as to further the current adult music learning in BIH). The research included a literature review, data analysis, survey and semi-structured interview as well as propos…
