Granulomatous mycosis fungoides, a rare subtype of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma

Granulomatous mycosis fungoides (GMF) is an unusual histologic subtype of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.1 The diagnosis of GMF is usually established after observation of a granulomatous inflammatory reaction associated with a malignant lymphoid infiltrate. Epidermotropism, a clue to diagnosis in classical mycosis fungoides (MF) may be absent in about 47% of cases of GMF.2 In some instances, the granulomatous component may be intense and obscures the lymphomatous component of the infiltrate.1 There are no distinctive clinical patterns associated with GMF.1, 3

Tadpoles of Amietia ruwenzorica (Pyxicephalidae, Cacosterninae) were collected in the Ruwenzori Mountains, Uganda(identified by DNA barcoding). The ventrally directed enlarged oral disc with a high number of labial tooth rows (LTRF9(4)/9(1)) and the narrow tail with robust caudal musculature characterise them as stream-dwellers. We name this mor-photype the 'common or standard type of stream-adaptation', because special additional adhesive organs are missing in A.ruwenzorica. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: A European multicenter case-control study including seven rare cases (one being MF) was conducted between 1995 and 1997. We have studied the role of MyD88, an adaptor protein of Toll-like receptors (TLRs), in murine defenses against Paracoccidioides brasiliensis in a model of blood-borne disseminated infection.
