Stability and Noises Evaluation of Fuzzy Kalman UAV Navigation System.

In this paper a new Fuzzy/Kalman navigation system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) is presented. A closed loop velocity Fuzzy navigation system is proposed for stabilizing the UAV in a reference trajectory generated dynamically and for obtaining a forward velocity command. The Kalman's filter (KF) is included in the feedback line of the fuzzy control system to filter the internal noise of the sensors and to evaluate the external noise due to possible perturbations of the nominal motion. The efficiency of the navigation system has been shown through experimental tests in a Matlab environment.
Reconstruction of undergraduate analytical chemistry laboratory course

The Analytical chemistry laboratory course at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Jyväskylä was reconstructed due to problems in the traditional arrangement, structure and contents of the course. The purposes of the reform were: to increase student-centered activity, co-operation and inquiry-based learning; to strengthen the connections to real-life; to develop students’ critical-thinking skills; and to decrease the number of drop-outs during the course. A Topic-Case Driven Methodology for Web Course Design

A topic-case driven methodology for a web course design and realization process is based on software engineering metaphors for capturing the necessary steps in creating web courses by means of a content-based development method. The methodology combines instructional issues to design phases that guide teachers and instructors to design and implement online courses. The methodology has been used by students of computer science, teacher education as well as professional university educators from different educational fields. The results from these experiences have been reported as case studies. In this chapter, the methodology is introduced with the summarized results from three case studies.
Improved GNSS positioning exploiting a vehicular P2P infrastructure

This paper considers the possibility to exploit external altitude measurements to improve the performance of a Kalman based GNSS receiver. The altitude measurements are provided by means of a peer to peer network, that is supposed to be based on the evolution of the 802.11 standard for the vehicular environment, namely the WAVE (802.11p). The performance of such a system are investigated for different characteristics of the aiding measurement and for a different number and disposals of the aiding peers. Agent's actions as a classification criteria for the state space in a learning from rewards system

We focus in this paper on the problem of learning an autonomous agent's policy when the state space is very large and the set of actions available is comparatively short. To this end, we use a non-parametric decision rule (concretely, a nearest-neighbour strategy) in order to cluster the state space by means of the action that leads to a successful situation. Using an exploration strategy to avoid greedy behaviour, the agent builds clusters of positively-classified states through trial and error learning. In this chapter, we present a system for indoor and outdoor localization and navigation to allow the low vision users in experiencing cultural heritage in autonomy. The system is based on the joint utilization of dead-reckoning and computer vision techniques on a smartphone-centric tracking system. The system is explicitly designed for visually impaired people, but it can be easily generalized to other users, and it is built under the assumption that special reference signals, such as colored tapes, painted lines, or tactile paving, are deployed in the environment for guiding visually impaired users along pre-defined paths. Learning from Differences

This paper presents a case study of an intensive international course aimed at pre-service teachers and having a focus on inclusion. The course was funded by Nordplus. Twenty-three students from six Baltic and Nordic countries were interviewed during and after the course on their views on professionalism and their future work as teachers. The results show that the students’ understanding of professionalism was multifaceted, and they had gained several experiences of professionalism during the course.
