Qualitative Comparison of Community Detection Algorithms

Community detection is a very active field in complex networks analysis, consisting in identifying groups of nodes more densely interconnected relatively to the rest of the network. The existing algorithms are usually tested and compared on real-world and artificial networks, their performance being assessed through some partition similarity measure. This paper deals with the development of reliable measurement and communication devices and systems and their integration on a prototypal network architecture for smart grid applications, based on the use of narrowband power line communications (PLCs). The proposed solution is presented and discussed in the framework of the ISO/IEC/IEEE 21451 family of Standards. Experimental Assessment of the Backoff Behavior of Commercial IEEE 802.11b Network Cards

It has been observed that different IEEE 802.11 commercial cards produced by different vendors experience different performance, either when accessing alone the channel, as well as when competing against each other. These differences persist also when thorough measurement methodologies (such as RF shielding, laptop rotation, etc) are applied, and alignment of the environmental factors (same laptop models, traffic generators, etc) is carried out. In this work we introduce a model for studying the distribution and control of atmospheric pollution from PM10. The model is based on the use of a cellular neural network (CNN) and more precisely on the integration of the mass-balance equation; at the same time it simulates the scenario regarding a planar grid describing the whole studied area (the city of Palermo) by means of a CNN and a set of Bayesian networks.
