Effects of Thermal Neutron Irradiation on a Self-Refresh DRAM

International audience; In this study, static and dynamic test methods were used to define the response of a self-refresh DRAM under thermal neutron irradiation. The neutron-induced failures were investigated and characterized by event cross-sections, soft-error rate and bitmaps evaluations, leading to an identification of permanent and temporarily stuck cells, block errors, and single-bit upsets.

Transmission lines with undersea HVDC cables are an interesting technological solution for the supply of electrical energy to islands. The accumulation of space charge inside the dielectric layer of a HVDC cable is one of the most important element to consider in its design and during operation. Electromagnetic and Thermal Modelling for Calculating Ageing Rate of Distribution Transformers

Prediction of the lifetime for transformers is very important for maintenance and asset management. Finite element analysis was performed on a 5 MVA distribution transformers with aluminium foil-type windings and voltage rating 6600 V/23000 V. Electromagnetic modelling is implemented on the full three-phase transformer to calculate distributed losses, taking the skin effect into account. To reduce the computational burden, the distributed losses in one phase are used to analyse temperature rise in one phase of the transformer. Contributed Review: Review of thermal methods for space charge measurement.

The space charge accumulation phenomenon has garnered great interest over the last two decades because of the increased use of direct current in high voltage electrical systems. In this context, a significant relevance has been achieved by the thermal methods, used for solid dielectrics. This paper presents a review of this non-destructive measurement system used for the measurement of space charge. The thermal pulse method, the thermal step method, and the laser intensity modulation method are described. High-pressure study of the infrared active modes in wurtzite and rocksalt ZnO

International audience; We present a high-pressure study of ZnO carried out in the mid- to far-infrared frequency domain with the aim of characterizing the optic modes of wurtzite and rocksalt ZnO. We obtained the pressure coefficients of the E1(TO), E1(LO), A1(TO), and A1(LO) modes of the low-pressure wurtzite phase and compare them with previous Raman measurements. The optical modes of the high-pressure rocksalt phase are infrared active, so we were able to determine their wave numbers and pressure dependencies. In the wurtzite phase, high pressure induces a slight decrease in both longitudinal and transverse effective charges. The decrease is more pronounced in the rocksalt phase.

Silicon nitride (Si3N4) due to its good mechanical and electrical properties is a promising material for wide range of applications, including exploitation under action of ionizing radiation. For estimating the changes of chemical bonds in silicon nitride nanolayers under action of ionizing radiation single and multi-layer silicon nitride nanolayered coatings on prepared Si subtrate were investigated by means of Fourier transform infrared spectrometry. Long-term moisture absorption and durability of FRP pultruded rebars

Abstract Up to 15-years long moisture diffusion into carbon, glass, and aramid fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) rebars is studied. To eliminate uncertainties in identification of the radial and axial diffusivities, a successive methodology for determination of the diffusion coefficients is proposed. The concept of apparent diffusivity taking into account anisotropy and edge effects is extended to cylindrical samples. The ratio of the axial and radial diffusivities is the lowest for carbon (3) and the highest for glass (81) FRP rebars. Rhodamine (B) photocatalysis under solar light on high crystalline ZnO films grown by home-made DC sputtering

Abstract ZnO thin films were deposited by home-made DC sputtering of zinc target under mixed gases (Argon, Oxygen) plasma on glass substrates. Films were deposited by varying oxygen partial pressure (PO2) from 0.09 to 1.3 mbar in the deposition chamber, at a fixed substrate temperature of 100 °C. The samples were characterized by photoluminescence (PL), X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical transmissions (UV–vis), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrical (Hall effect) measurements.
