Peace Mediations: Recourse to the Arbitration in the kingdom of Valencia (XIV-XV Centuries)

Arbitration, as a means of conciliation, had an extraordinary diffusion in the Medieval West. It had the advantage of being more quick and, generally, less expensive that the causes resolved by the ordinary courts. Moreover, it tried to reconcile the interests of the warring parties. This paper seeks to define the main features of the arbitration in the kingdom of Valencia during the Middle Ages focusing the observation on the small rural community of Vilafranca.

This article proposes a study of the traditions in defensive architecture that concurred in the projects designed by Spanish military engineers for the fortification of the Valencian frontier in 1648 and 1649, in the context of the War of Catalonia (1640-1652). For this it is essential to follow the route of the Valencian adaptations to the military revolution in the matter of fortifications throughout the sixteenth century and compare them with those brought to Valencia in 1641 by the Marquis of Leganes and his engineers from the school of Milan.

Three-Factor Structure of Adult Attachment in the Workplace: Comparison of British, French, and Italian Samples

The goal was to compare three-factor and two-factor solutions and construct validity of the Adult Attachment in the Workplace (AAW) questionnaire. Participants were 660 volunteers from three countries (France, Italy, and Great Britain). The two-factor model of Neustadt, Chamorro-Premuzic, & Furnham (2006) and the three-factor theoretical model of Collins and Read (1990) were compared. Construct validity was assessed by calculating correlations among the two- and three-factor AAW, the Workplace Attachment Scale, and the Organizational Commitment Scale. Little is known about how people characterise and classify the experience of deja vu. The term deja vu might capture a range of different phenomena and people may use it differently. We examined the description of deja vu in two languages: French and English, hypothesising that the use of deja vu would vary between the two languages. In French, the phrase deja vu can be used to indicate a veridical experience of recognition - as in "I have already seen this face before". However, the same is not true in English. Offense-supportive cognitions are thought to result from underlying implicit theories (ITs). As child sexual exploitation material (CSEM) users are a distinct type of sex offender, Bartels and Merdian proposed that CSEM offenders hold five different ITs from those endorsed by contact sex offenders (i.e., Unhappy World, Self as Uncontrollable, Child as Sexual Object, Nature of Harm [CSEM variant], and Self as Collector), linked by an assumption about the Reinforcing Nature of the Internet.
