Endringskapasitet – en nøkkel for å lykkes med gevinstrealisering i spesialisthelsetjenesten? : En studie av hvordan mellomledere opplever at endring…

2018

Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 Background: If an organisation is to reap the potential benefits of new technology, it must modify its work processes. However, the specialist health service appears to be experiencing significant challenges because it is constantly under pressure to change and improve its efficiency. This can weaken its capacity for change and, at worst, lead to long-term reductions in productivity and efficiency. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine how middle managers in the specialist health service feel they can influence developments in change capacity. The aim is to contribute to an awareness of the importance…

Microfinance

2013

This chapter gives the reader an introduction to microfinance and reports how the industry has moved from generally being praised to increasingly being criticized. Particularly, the chapter addresses the concern that microfinance institutions chase profits and are moving away from the poor-customer segments. The authors' findings indicate that rather than being an industry with high profits, the industry struggles with high costs and low earnings. They also find that the focus on serving poor customers did not change over time. Thus, the ‘mission drift’ claim cannot be confirmed.

Variance Thresholded EMD-CCA Technique for Fast Eye Blink Artifacts Removal in EEG

2017

International audience; Eye blink (EB) artifacts generated during eye blinks often contaminate electroencephalogram (EEG) signal. Previously Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA), hybrid EMD-CCA were developed for EB artifact removal in EEG. However, EMD restricts the hybrid algorithm for real time implementation due to its slow processing nature, hence the algorithm has to be enhanced so that it can be a viable solution for real-time EB artifact removal. In this research work, to avoid applying EMD repetitively as and when EB artifacts occur, a method to use EMD minimally is approached. A suitable EB artifact region is detected through a variance thres…

A Trajectory-Driven 3D Channel Model for Human Activity Recognition

2021

This paper concerns the design, analysis, and simulation of a 3D non-stationary channel model fed with inertial measurement unit (IMU) data. The work in this paper provides a framework for simulating the micro-Doppler signatures of indoor channels for human activity recognition by using radiofrequency-based sensing technologies. The major human body segments, such as wrists, ankles, torso, and head, are modelled as a cluster of moving point scatterers. We provide expressions for the time variant (TV) speed and TV angles of motion based on 3D trajectories of the moving person. Moreover, we present mathematical expressions for the TV Doppler shifts and TV path gains associated with each movin…

Chromogenic and fluorogenic reagents for chemical warfare nerve agents' detection

2008

The ease of production, the extreme toxicity of organophosphorus-containing nerve agents, and their facile use in terrorism attacks underscores the need to develop accurate systems to detect these chemicals. Among different technologies we review here recent advances in the design of chromo-fluorogenic methods for the specific detection of nerve agents. Optical sensing (especially colorimetric detection) requires usually low-cost and widely used instrumentation and offers the possibility of so-called “naked eye detection”. Recent reported examples suggest that the application of chromo-fluorogenic supramolecular concepts for the chromogenic or fluorogenic sensing of nerve agents might be an…

Overview of the JET results

2015

Since the installation of an ITER-like wall, the JET programme has focused on the consolidation of ITER design choices and the preparation for ITER operation, with a specific emphasis given to the bulk tungsten melt experiment, which has been crucial for the final decision on the material choice for the day-one tungsten divertor in ITER. Integrated scenarios have been progressed with the re-establishment of long-pulse, high-confinement H-modes by optimizing the magnetic configuration and the use of ICRH to avoid tungsten impurity accumulation. Stationary discharges with detached divertor conditions and small edge localized modes have been demonstrated by nitrogen seeding. The differences in…

Low temperature plasma treatment of monomolecular Langmuir-Blodgett films

1993

Abstract The structure of the surface layer of materials is usually quite different from the bulk. Detailed information about the surface structure is often not available. This, together with the complex nature of low temperature plasma treatment, hinders the investigations of plasma chemical processes on solid surfaces. Monomolecular Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) structures offer a unique opportunity to prepare model surfaces with known thickness and molecular architecture. From the data obtained, the depth of the Ar plasma influence on solid organic surfaces was estimated to be about 400–1000 A depending on the nature of the surface layer. An oxygen plasma penetrates deeper with a penetration li…

Discrimination of nerve gases mimics and other organophosphorous derivatives in gas phase using a colorimetric probe array.

2012

A colorimetric array for the chromogenic discrimination of organophosphorous derivatives in gas phase has been developed. The array allows us to classify the nerve agent simulants DFP, DCP and DCNP.
