Finnish Classroom Teacher Students' Experiences of an Online Music Course During The COVID pandemic
2022
When studying music, skills are often practised with a teacher, face-to-face, in a classroom. What are the experiences of classroom teacher trainees when music teaching becomes asynchronous, i.e., an individually completed online course? This question, among other things, was explored at a Finnish University's Teacher Education Department in autumn 2020, resulting in the production of a two-credit online music course on the Moodle learning environment. It was implemented for the first time during the summer term in 2021. The students’ experiences with the functionality of the e-learning module were analysed through data-driven content analysis. The study represents an intensive case study u…

Henkilökohtaista brändäystä vai yrityksen "työlähettiläisyyttä" : asiantuntijan verkkoyhteisöpalvelu LinkedInin käyttö
2016
Tämän ajan puhutuimpiin sosiaalisen median markkinointikeinoihin kuuluu työntekijälähettiläisyys. Työntekijälähettilään odotetaan edistävän yrityksensä positiivista mainetta esiintyessään sosiaalisessa mediassa. Tässä tutkimuksessa on tarkoitus selvittää, onko asiantuntijan LinkedInissä esiintymisen tarkoitus itsensä esittäminen ja brändäys vai työantajayrityksensä markkinointi. Lisäksi tutkimuksessa selvitetään, mitä vaikutteita asiantuntijan LinkedInin käytön taustalla on. Tutkielman kirjallisuuskatsauksen ensimmäisessä osassa tarkastellaan LinkedIniä sosiaalisena mediana ja verkkoyhteisöpalveluna. Kirjallisuuden toinen osa käsittelee teknologian käyttöön vaikuttavia tekijöitä. Tutkimusai…

Vocational Education and Training Institutions' Collaboration with the World of Work from the Perspective of Actor Networks and Ecosystems of Learning
2018
Vocational and professional education institutions, as well as higher education institutions, are more and more expected to collaborate with the world of work and each other. At the same time, the boundaries of organisations have become somewhat blurred. Employers may be subcontractors for a larger firm or subdivisions of an enterprise (organisation) may serve their headquarters through digital connections on the other side of the globe. As a result, the forms and cultures of organisations that educational institutions are expected to collaborate with have become rather complex and difficult to figure out. In order to better understand the complexities of the collaborative practices that ed…
Visible organisational boundaries and the invisible boundaries of the scholarly profession
2022
The role of universities in knowledge production has changed. Vol. 15, edited by D. M. Hoffman and J. Välimaa, 13–39. Dordrecht: Springer). In addition, the focus of universities’ personnel policies has shifted from supporting professional inclusion and exclusion towards supporting the national d…
