TAURINE SUPPLEMENTATION PREVENTS HYPERAMINOACIDEMIA IN GROWING TERM INFANTS FED HIGH PROTEIN COW'S MILK FORMULA. † 1891

Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and plasma and urine amino acid concentrations were compared between three cohorts of healthy term infants who were breast-fed (BF) or randomly assigned to one of two formulas either taurine non-supplemented (FF) or taurine supplemented (FF+T). The formulas had a protein concentration of 2 g/dl (2.9 g/100 kcal) and a whey/casein ratio of 20/80. The infants were studied from 2 to 12 weeks of age. Weight gain and growth in length was normal and similar in all three feeding groups during the study interval. At 12 weeks BUN was significantly higher in the FF group than in the BF and FF+T groups of infants, 16.5 mg/dl vs 7.0 and 7.3 mg/dl respectively. Total plasma amin…

Redoxpolymerisate des Acroleins wurden unter den Bedingungen einer KNOEVENAGEL-Kondensation mit methylenaktiven Verbindungen umgesetzt. Als Katalysatoren dienten Piperidin im essigsauren Medium oder Kaliumfluorid. Mit Malonsauredinitril, Cyanessigsaureathylester, Benzylcyanid, Phenylnitromethan und Acetessigsaureathylester entstehen losliche Polyacrolein-Derivate. Die Reaktionen mit Nitroacetonitril, Malonsaurediathylester, Nitromethan und Acetonitril fuhren zu unloslichen Umsetzungsprodukten. The reaction of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds with aminoacetonitrile hydrochloride furnishes 3,5-disubstituted 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrrole-2-carbonitriles in a one-pot reaction sequence. While these products can serve as starting materials for the preparation of polysubstituted pyrrolizidines, they are kinetically stable against the base-induced elimination of HCN. In contrast, their 2-substituted analogues obtained from α-substituted α-aminonitriles can be readily converted to the corresponding 2,3,5-trisubstituted pyrroles under microwave irradiation. Maģistra darbs ir uzrakstīts 60 lappusēs angļu valodā. Tas satur 23 attēlus, 45 informācijas avotus un 9 pielikumus. Mērķis: šī pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, kādas acu izmaiņas ir notikušas vienu nedēļu pēc daļēji noturīgo skropstu pieaudzēšanas. Metodes: septiņiem pētījuma dalībniekiem tika četras reizes novērtētas konjunktīvas izmaiņas, asaru apjoma izmaiņas un alerģijas rādītājs, izmantojot arī subjektīvas anketas. Rezultāti: visiem šī pētījuma dalībniekiem bija daži ar daļēji noturīgu skropstu pieaudzēšanu saistīti acu simptomi, vairumam dalībnieku bija konjunktīvas apsārtums dažādos līmeņos, un daudziem bija asaru apjoma izmaiņas. In this thesis DNA based structures were utilized to create gold nanostructures for nanosensing and nanoelectronic applications. In the past, both of these fields have been dominated by the conventional lithography methods, e.g., electron beam lithography and UV-lithography, but more recently scaling down the components by these techniques has become increasingly more complex and costly. Unexplored nucleophilic ring opening of aziridines.

The reactivity of dianions of carboxylic acids towards aziridines has been studied. Although, a similar reactivity to that of enolates from ketones, esters or amides has been observed, the method directly yields g-aminoacids in one step. The method is complementary of previous results of enenediolate reactivity with other electrophiles. A comparative study with the reactivity of this enediolates with epoxides is included.

International audience; A detailed study of reduction potentials, electroreduction mechanisms and acid-base chemistry was carried out on two series of free-base porphyrins in nonaqueous media. The first series is represented by four-pyrrole substituted tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) derivatives, two of which are planar and two of which are nonplanar in their non-protonated form. The second comprises porphyrins with 0-4 meso-phenyl groups on the macrocycle.
