Advances in antioxidant phytochemical for inflammatory skin diseases: mangiferin and naringin nanocarriers based lipids

2020

Chronic inflammatory skin diseases are the most common topical disorders and the fourth cause of global disability. Among all, psoriasis (PS) and atopic dermatitis (AD) are the most frequent chronic and recurrent inflammatory diseases of the skin. Atopic dermatitis has a strong Th2 factor while psoriasis is a disease driven by Th17. The actual treatment, which involve the combination of topical, systemic and biological therapy, is characterized by numerous adverse effects, which reduce patient compliance, lead to the limitation of long-term use and limit the therapeutic efficacy. Therefore, there is a great need for the continuous development of novel, effective and safe coadjuvant treatmen…

Conduit dynamics and post explosion degassing on Stromboli: A combined UV camera and numerical modeling treatment.

2016

Abstract Recent gas flux measurements have shown that Strombolian explosions are often followed by periods of elevated flux, or “gas codas,” with durations of order a minute. Here we present UV camera data from 200 events recorded at Stromboli volcano to constrain the nature of these codas for the first time, providing estimates for combined explosion plus coda SO2 masses of ≈18–225 kg. Numerical simulations of gas slug ascent show that substantial proportions of the initial gas mass can be distributed into a train of “daughter bubbles” released from the base of the slug, which we suggest, generate the codas, on bursting at the surface. This process could also cause transitioning of slugs i…

Hybrid nanostructures based on gold nanoparticles and functional coordination polymers: Chemistry, physics and applications in biomedicine, catalysis…

2023

During the last decade, the scientific community has become interested in hybrid nanomaterials, especially the ones that combine gold nanoparticles with a second functional component. In this context, coordination polymers are materials that possess potential advantages over conventional inorganic nanomaterials and organic compounds such as chemical versatility, easy processability, high specific area, low toxicity, biodegradability and electronic and magnetic functionalities to name a few. In this manner, the wise integration of Au nanoparticles with coordination polymers in different types of nanostructures has allowed extending the scope of properties and applications of these systems, a…

Is a Catalyst Always Needed? The Case of the Knoevenagel Reaction with Malononitrile

2022

The aim of this Perspective is to start a discussion about the real usefulness of more or less sophisticated catalytic systems for the Knoevenagel reaction with malononitrile, a reaction that can take place under mild conditions without the need of a catalyst. From a sustainable viewpoint the questions are: Is it useful to increase the rate of a reaction that already occurs under mild conditions? Is it useful to spend resources and time in designing, characterizing and realizing complex catalytic systems for such reaction? Does it make sense to carry out the reaction under conditions such as to have a slower reaction rate and therefore to find a catalyst that is able to increase it?

Isomerisierung der Dihydropentalene und Umsetzung mit Tetracyanethylen

1987

Isomerization of Dihydropentalenes and Reacti…

Response of soil phosphatase activities to contamination with two types of tar oil.

2018

Tar oil is a complex mixture of hydrocarbon compounds obtained from high-temperature distillation of coal tar. It has been used for over 100 years from now to protect wood and has been applied to wood products, primary utility poles, and railroad ties by pressure methods. Composition of the tar oil depends on the source and typically consists of 85% polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), 10% phenolic compounds, and 5% heterocyclic compounds. In this research, we performed the laboratory experiment to compare two types of tar oil: C and GX-Plus, and their effects on P-cycling enzymes (phosphatases) in sandy loam and loamy sand. Tar oil was applied to soil samples at the following doses: 2,…

A novel target of lithium therapy.

2000

Phosphatases converting 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphate (PAP) into adenosine 5'-phosphate are of fundamental importance in living cells as the accumulation of PAP is toxic to several cellular systems. These enzymes are lithium-sensitive and we have characterized a human PAP phosphatase as a potential target of lithium therapy. A cDNA encoding a human enzyme was identified by data base screening, expressed in Escherichia coli and the 33 kDa protein purified to homogeneity. The enzyme exhibits high affinity for PAP (K(m)1 microM) and is sensitive to subtherapeutic concentrations of lithium (IC(50)=0.3 mM). The human enzyme also hydrolyzes inositol-1, 4-bisphosphate with high affinity (K(m)=0…

5-Oxo-1,4-dihydroindenopyridines: Calcium modulators with partial calcium agonistic activity

1990

The title compounds 4a-g were prepared by Knoevenagel reactions of 1,3-indandione (1) with the aromatic aldehydes 2a-g followed by cyclizing Michael addition of the products thus obtained with methyl β-aminocrotonate (3). The structures of products 4 were characterized by spectal data. Positive inotropic activities were observed on electrically stimulated, left atria of giunea pigs and these effects could be attributed to calcium agonism. On the other hand, barium chloride-induced contractions of guinea pig ileum were inhibited in a dose-dependent manner.
