The helicoidal magnetic generator

2016

Recently helicoidal generator for the exploitation of sea wave energy has been proposed. This device can convert both the vertical and rotational movement of seawaves. The electrical energy generated by such a device must be converted and conditioned in order to match the instantaneous utility requirements and a power link from the sea to an interconnection is needed. In this paper, the authors propose a mathematical model of this device and preliminarily present a prototype of the machine.

Acoustic vibrations of monoclinic zirconia nanocrystals

International audience; Polarized low-frequency Raman spectra originating from confined acoustic vibrations are reported for monoclinic ZrO2 nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution synthesized from a continuous supercritical water process. The monoclinic lattice structure is taken into account for the interpretation of the spectra by comparing with isotropic and anisotropic continuum elasticity calculations for monodomain nanocrystals. The various mechanisms leading to the broadening of the Raman peaks are discussed. Ptychographic imaging and micromagnetic modeling of thermal melting of nanoscale magnetic domains in antidot lattices

CA extern Antidot lattices are potential candidates to act as bit patterned media for data storage as they are able to trap nanoscale magnetic domains between two adjacent holes. Here, we demonstrate the combination of micromagnetic modeling and x-ray microscopy. Detailed simulation of these systems can only be achieved by micromagnetic modeling that takes thermal effects into account. For this purpose, a Landau-Lifshitz-Bloch approach is used here. The calculated melting of magnetic domains within the antidot lattice is reproduced experimentally by x-ray microscopy. Light-induced nonthermal population of optical phonons in nanocrystals

Raman spectroscopy is widely used to study bulk and nanomaterials, where information is frequently obtained from spectral line positions and intensities. In this study, we monitored the Raman spectrum of ensembles of semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) as a function of optical excitation intensity (optical excitation experiments). We observe that in NCs the red-shift of the Raman peak position with increasing light power density is much steeper than that recorded for the corresponding bulk material. The human immunodeficiency virus is a lethal pathology considered as a worldwide problem. The search for new strategies for the treatment of this disease continues to be a great challenge in the scientific community. In this study, a series of 107 derivatives of 1-[(2-hydroxyethoxy)methyl]-6-(phenylthio)thymine, previously evaluated experimentally against HIV-I reverse transcriptase, was used to model antiretroviral activity. Organocatalytic enantioselective Strecker reaction with seven-membered cyclic imines

[EN] A highly enantioselective Strecker reaction with dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepines has been described using a dihydroquinine-derived thiourea as organocatalyst. The reaction affords chiral 10,11-dihydrodibenzo[b,f][1,4] oxazepine 11-carbonitrile derivatives in excellent yields (up to 99%) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 98%) under mild reaction conditions.

A mononuclear cobalt(III) complex [Co(bpy)2Cl2]NO3⋅2H2O (1) (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) has been synthesized and crystallographically characterized. Self-assembly of the lattice water molecules from rectangular tetrameric water cluster interacts with nitrate anion along the c-axis forming a six membered hexagonal water-nitrate cluster. It presents a new mode of association of water molecules with nitrate molecules which is not predicted theoretically or found experimentally. The molecule effectively cleaves bacterial genomic DNA and shows important cytotoxicity against human hepatocarcinoma cell (HepG2).

While interactions may be border-crossing, the actors’ body remains situated and limited in time and space. However, the thesis of this paper is that transnationalism processes are embodied.
