Migration and students' performance: detecting geographical differences following a curves clustering approach

Students’ migration mobility is the new form of migration: students migrate to improve their skills and become more valued for the job market. The data regard the migration of Italian Bachelors who enrolled at Master Degree level, moving typically from poor to rich areas. This paper investigates the migration and other possible determinants on the Master Degree students’ performance. The Clustering of Effects approach for Quantile Regression Coefficients Modelling has been used to cluster the effects of some variables on the students’ performance for three Italian macro-areas. Results show evidence of similarity between Southern and Centre students, with respect to the Northern ones.

Accade, a volte, che tali oggetti, negli interstizi di stilemi storicamente comprensibili, conservino tracce e frammenti di un evento “tragico”, di una collisione tra i limiti del già avvenuto e i contorni del vigente, di una “transizione” . Does Finland Need Raciolinguistics?

A growing number of applied linguists and language educators in the US/North American context advocate for and from a scholarly perspective which views language issues in relation to racial issues and vice versa. The emergent field of raciolinguistics highlights the relationships between language and race/racism and has brought about research that investigates their intersections. Should scholars in Finland adopt (and adapt) such an approach to scholarly work? Three Finland-based scholars explore this question in a question ("prompt") - response format.

Attraverso la voce dei minatori ancora in grado di rendere testimonianza delle tecniche e del lessico settoriale della coltivazione dello zolfo, il volume illustra con ricco corredo di etnotesti la specificità di questo ambito etnodialettale. Il lessico settoriale della miniera, identificato come "linguaggio solfaresco", presenta una osmosi continua con il lessico comune e agricolo, da cui era attinta la manodopera del sottosuolo. Un glossario ampio e fondato anche su fonti storico-documentarie, correda il volume.
