Papel de la antitrombina iii en cirugía cardiaca

2013

Coagulation of blood is of multidisciplinary interest. Cardiac surgery produces major changes in the delicate balance between pro-and anti-coagulant serum factors. The role of antithrombin iii has been analysed after finding evidence that associated decreased levels of protein activity to postoperative morbidity and mortality. Supplementing exogenous antithrombin is considered with the aim of optimising outcomes. Its intrinsic anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory properties have stimulated a growing interest, and suggests new lines of research.

CT-Diagnostik von Blutungen in die Muskulatur des Abdomens im Rahmen therapeutischer Eingriffe in das Gerinnungssystem

1992

Eleven patients treated by anticoagulants or lytic therapy suffered bleeding into the abdominal muscles, resulting in neurological symptoms or those of an acute abdomen. By means of CT it was possible to demonstrate the bleeds and to clarify the differential diagnosis, thereby leading to correct treatment. The possibility of early diagnosis of haemorrhages makes CT a suitable and reliable method.

Antithrombotic treatment and outcomes of splanchnic vein thrombosis in an international prospective registry: Results of 2-year follow-up

2014

Abstract Background: Little information is available on the long-term clinical outcome of patients with splanchnic vein thrombosis (SVT). We aimed to assess incidence rates of bleeding, recurrence, and mortality in a large prospective cohort of SVT patients after a 2-year follow-up. Methods: Consecutive SVT patients were enrolled in a multicenter international registry, from 2008 to 2012. Information was gathered on baseline characteristics, risk factors and therapeutic strategies. Clinical outcomes (major bleeding; vascular events, defined as venous or arterial thrombosis, and mortality) during follow-up were collected and reviewed by a Central Adjudication Committee. Major bleeding was de…

Antagonizing dabigatran by idarucizumab in cases of ischemic stroke or intracranial hemorrhage in Germany—Updated series of 120 cases

2020

Background Idarucizumab is a monoclonal antibody fragment with high affinity for dabigatran reversing its anticoagulant effects within minutes. Thereby, patients with acute ischemic stroke who are on dabigatran treatment may become eligible for thrombolysis with recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA). In patients on dabigatran with intracerebral hemorrhage idarucizumab could prevent lesion growth. Aims To provide insights into the clinical use of idarucizumab in patients under effective dabigatran anticoagulation presenting with signs of acute ischemic stroke or intracranial hemorrhage. Methods Retrospective data collected from German neurological/neurosurgical departments ad…

Women, thrombosis, and cancer: A gender-specific analysis.

2017

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major common complication in cancer patients. Risk-adapted thromboprophylaxis and antithrombotic therapy for patients diagnosed with VTE can reduce the recurrence of VTE events. Thrombotic risk varies according to cancer type, stage, and comorbidities. The current review analyzes most recent data and provides clinical guidance for the management of women with cancer-associated thrombosis.

Incidence of venous thromboembolism and use of anticoagulation in hematological malignancies: Critical review of the literature.

2018

Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) frequently complicates the course of hematologic malignancies (HM) and its incidence is similar to that observed in high-risk solid tumors. Despite that, pharmacologic prophylaxis and treatment of VTE in patients with HM is challenging, mainly because a severe thrombocytopenia frequently complicates the course of treatments or may be present since diagnosis, thus increasing the risk of bleeding. Therefore, in this setting, safe and effective methods of VTE prophylaxis and treatment have not been well defined and hematologists generally refer to guidelines produced for cancer patients that give indications on anticoagulation in patients with thrombocytopenia. In …

Intravenous thrombolysis for acute ischaemic stroke in patients on direct oral anticoagulants.

2018

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Whereas intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) is allowed for acute ischaemic stroke in patients on vitamin K antagonists with international normalized ratio ≤1.7, there are no similar recommendations for patients on direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), notably due to the lack of coagulation tests to assess the therapeutic effects. Although the literature is scarce, consisting of small case series and retrospective studies, considering the frequency of this situation the French Vascular Neurology Society and the French Study Group on Haemostasis and Thrombosis have worked on a joint position paper to provide a practical position regarding the emergency management of ischaemic …

Usefulness of Stress Echocardiography in the Management of Patients Treated with Anticancer Drugs.

2021

In recent years, the survival of patients with cancer has improved thanks to advances in antineoplastic therapeutic protocols. This has led to an increasing burden of cardiovascular complications related to cancer treatment. Therefore, a new branch of cardiology has been created, ``cardio-oncology,'' with the aims of preventing cardiovascular complications related to antineoplastic treatment, achieving early diagnosis and treatment of any complications, and allowing completion of the expected antineoplastic treatment. Stress echocardiography has a pivotal role in achieving a timely diagnosis of coronary artery disease and thus is the best management approach in this clinical setting. Athero…

Effects of mandibular advancement surgery on the temporomandibular joint and muscular and articular adaptive changes--a systematic review.

2016

The objective of this study was to assess the anatomical changes to the condyle and articular disc following mandibular advancement surgery, the adaptation of the masticatory muscles, and the improvement or worsening of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in patients with pre-existing disorders and those who developed them following surgery. Four databases were searched systematically: PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Cochrane Library. Of the 544 articles initially selected, 219 were duplicates and a further 165 were excluded on the basis of their titles and abstracts. On reading the full text, 89 were excluded because they were of no interest and 43 because they did not meet the inclusion criteri…
