Families of solutions to the KPI equation and the structure of their rational representations of order N
2018
We construct solutions to the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation (KPI) in terms of Fredholm determinants. We deduce solutions written as a quotient of wronskians of order 2N. These solutions called solutions of order N depend on 2N − 1 parameters. They can also be written as a quotient of two polynomials of degree 2N (N + 1) in x, y and t depending on 2N − 2 parameters. The maximum of the modulus of these solutions at order N is equal to 2(2N + 1) 2. We explicitly construct the expressions until the order 6 and we study the patterns of their modulus in the plane (x, y) and their evolution according to time and parameters.
Association of child maltreatment subtypes and long-term physical health in a German representative sample
2018
ABSTRACT Background: Child maltreatment is a major public problem, associated with enormous consequences on the individual and socioeconomic level. Studies show a clear impact of child maltreatment on long-term physical health. However, there is a lack of analyses comprising a wide variety of subtypes of maltreatment and addressing cumulative effects of different maltreatment subtypes experienced during childhood on physical health. Objective: The objective of this analysis was to assess the association of different subtypes and the intensity of child maltreatment with long-term physical health outcomes. Methods: In a cross-sectional observational approach, a representative sample of the Ge…
Assessing the profitability of investment projects using ordered fuzzy numbers
2019
Background: This article is motivated by the fact that most approaches to capital budgeting are deterministic. In reality, the capital budgeting problem is accompanied by the uncertainty and risk associated with dealing with imprecise data. Taking this uncertainty into account when performing analyses and calculations not only helps to better measure the profitability of investment projects, but also to expand the applicability of capital budgeting methods under real-life or uncertain conditions. The major contribution of this paper is the development of a novel approach to assessing the profitability of an investment project in the presence of uncertainty. Methods: We present a novel appro…
Szacowanie czasu realizacji projektu przy nieprecyzyjnych zmiennych
2017
The paper presents the essence and significance of the project time estimation under uncertainty and risk using ordered fuzzy numbers. The proposed approach is based on a fuzzy model of uncertainty using ordered fuzzy numbers as imprecise data – duration times. The presented extended critical path method is a new approach that has not been presented so far in the literature of the subject. The authors present the implementation of the approach on an example. The advantages of the proposed approach have been outlined in the paper. The proposed approach can find practical applications in decision-making problems under conditions of risk and uncertainty, supporting decision-makers in the plann…
An evolutionary Haar-Rado type theorem
2021
AbstractIn this paper, we study variational solutions to parabolic equations of the type $$\partial _t u - \mathrm {div}_x (D_\xi f(Du)) + D_ug(x,u) = 0$$ ∂ t u - div x ( D ξ f ( D u ) ) + D u g ( x , u ) = 0 , where u attains time-independent boundary values $$u_0$$ u 0 on the parabolic boundary and f, g fulfill convexity assumptions. We establish a Haar-Rado type theorem: If the boundary values $$u_0$$ u 0 admit a modulus of continuity $$\omega $$ ω and the estimate $$|u(x,t)-u_0(\gamma )| \le \omega (|x-\gamma |)$$ | u ( x , t ) - u 0 ( γ ) | ≤ ω ( | x - γ | ) holds, then u admits the same modulus of continuity in the spatial variable.
Group Identities on Units of Group Algebras
2000
Abstract Let U be the group of units of the group algebra FG of a group G over a field F . Suppose that either F is infinite or G has an element of infinite order. We characterize groups G so that U satisfies a group identity. Under the assumption that G modulo the torsion elements is nilpotent this gives a complete classification of such groups. For torsion groups this problem has already been settled in recent years.
Abelian Sylow subgroups in a finite group, II
2015
Abstract Let p ≠ 3 , 5 be a prime. We prove that Sylow p-subgroups of a finite group G are abelian if and only if the class sizes of the p-elements of G are all coprime to p. This gives a solution to a problem posed by R. Brauer in 1956 (for p ≠ 3 , 5 ).
ON SYLOW NORMALIZERS OF FINITE GROUPS
2013
[EN] The paper considers the influence of Sylow normalizers, i.e. normalizers of Sylow subgroups, on the structure of finite groups. In the universe of finite soluble groups it is known that classes of groups with nilpotent Hall subgroups for given sets of primes are exactly the subgroup- closed saturated formations satisfying the following property: a group belongs to the class if and only if its Sylow normalizers do so. The paper analyzes the extension of this research to the universe of all finite groups.
On second minimal subgroups of Sylow subgroups of finite groups
2011
A subgroup H of a finite group G is a partial CAP-subgroup of G if there is a chief series of G such that H either covers or avoids its chief factors. Partial cover and avoidance property has turned out to be very useful to clear up the group structure. In this paper, finite groups in which the second minimal subgroups of their Sylow p-subgroups, p a fixed prime, are partial CAP-subgroups are completely classified.
The Fitting Subgroup and Some Injectors of Radical Locally Finite Groups with min-pfor Allp
2003
Abstract This work was intended as an attempt to continue the study of the class ℬ of generalised nilpotent groups started in a previous paper. We present some results concerning the Fitting subgroup and the ℬ-injectors of a radical locally finite group satisfying min-p for all p.
