Background Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD‐1) is an immune checkpoint receptor which plays an important role in a patient´s immune responses to microbial and cancer antigens. It is expressed in tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) with many different malignancies. The aim of the study was to evaluate PD‐1 expression and its prognostic value in tongue cancer. Background Radioresistance is a common feature of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). We previously showed that the irradiation- activated vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK)-axis is fundamental for the survival of resistant tumors. In this study, we examined if treatment with potent multikinase (MK) inhibitors, sorafenib and sunitinib, could radiosensitize tumor cells. AbstractBiogenesis and function of microRNAs can be influenced by genetic variants in the pri-miRNA sequences leading to phenotypic variability. This study aims to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) affecting the expression levels of bone-related mature microRNAs and thus, triggering an osteoporotic phenotype. An association analysis of SNPs located in pri-miRNA sequences with bone mineral density (BMD) was performed in the OSTEOMED2 cohort (n = 2183). Clinical validation of 13-gene DNA methylation analysis in oral brushing samples for detection of oral carcinoma: an Italian multicenter study

Background The aim of this Italian multicenter study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of a minimally invasive method for the detection of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) based on 13-gene DNA methylation analysis in oral brushing samples. Methods Oral brushing specimens were collected in 11 oral medicine centers across Italy. Twenty brushing specimens were collected by each center, 10 from patients with OSCC, and 10 from healthy volunteers. Abstract Background ABBV-181 is a humanized anti-PD1 monoclonal antibody; dose finding and early safety, PK and pharmacodynamic data have been reported (ESMO18). This report summarizes data from the head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) expansion cohorts in the Ph1 FIH study (NCT03000257).
