Agreement on the Choice of Non-applicable Law or Law not in Accordance with Article 22(1) of the Twin Regulations: what Consequences for the Couple’s…
2021
2017
Two mystical pleas for the «no pensar nada»: the Third Spiritual alphabet (1527) and the Law of love (1530) by Francisco de Osuna A mystic principle rooted in negative theology (from Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite to Saint John of the Cross), the « no pensar nada » ("thinking-nothing") was strongly defended by Franciscan preacher and spiritual guide of the « Recollection », Francisco de Osuna, in a context of spiritual polemics marked by the condemnation of Toledo's « Alumbrados » ("the Illuminated") in 1525. Despite the Holy Office's strong pressure, and the threat of censorship, Osuna openly advocated the « thinking-nothing » principle in a chapter of the Third Spiritual Alphabet (1527),…

Antimicrobial and Insecticidal: Cyclic Lipopeptides and Hydrogen Cyanide Produced by Plant-Beneficial Pseudomonas Strains CHA0, CMR12a, and PCL1391 C…
2017
Particular groups of plant-beneficial fluorescent pseudomonads are not only root colonizers that provide plant disease suppression, but in addition are able to infect and kill insect larvae. The mechanisms by which the bacteria manage to infest this alternative host, to overcome its immune system, and to ultimately kill the insect are still largely unknown. However, the investigation of the few virulence factors discovered so far, points to a highly multifactorial nature of insecticidal activity. Antimicrobial compounds produced by fluorescent pseudomonads are effective weapons against a vast diversity of organisms such as fungi, oomycetes, nematodes, and protozoa. Here, we investigated whe…
Zur Frage der Darmkontrastierung in der abdominellen Computertomographie
1992
In 56 patients undergoing abdominal CT the gastrointestinal tract was defined by negative contrast instead of the conventional positive contrast from an iodine containing contrast medium. The contrast material was a 2 1/2% mannitol solution and was used for filling the rectum. Filling of the gastrointestinal tract was of similar quality to that obtained with positive contrast media. The number of artifacts due to high contrast boundaries was slightly greater with the negative contrast than it would have been with positive contrast. Differentiation of the gastrointestinal tract from other abdominal organs was equally good for both methods. The negative contrast method was poor in diagnosing …
Keyhole limpet haemocyanin (KLH): Purification of intact KLH1 through selective dissociation of KLH2
1995
Abstract Keyhole limpet haemocyanin (KLH) from almost all newly captive animals contains a mixture of KLH1 and KLH2. We show that the dissociation of KLH2 can be produced during EM specimen preparation by the negative staining-carbon film (NS-CF) procedure and in solution by ammonium molybdate-PEG solutions at slightly acidic pHs. The KLH2 multidecamers split apart in the pH range 7.5-6.5 and in the pH range 6.5-6.0 the individual decamers break open and start to dissociate. At pH 5.9 the dissociation of KLH2 yields predominantly a mixture of single subunits and what appear to be subunit dimers. Over the pH range 7.0-5.7 the KLH1 didecamer remains stable. Separation of intact KLH1, in the f…
A gender- based approach to the current situation of Spanish dentists
2021
Background To determine the perception of Spanish dentists about the situation of the profession nowadays and how the changes occurred in dental workforce (in number and gender of the past twenty years) have affected their personal and professional lives, under a gender-based approach. Material and Methods An online survey comprising of 51 opinion and socio-economic questions, divided into 9 sections of different topics, which was administered between the members of 13 professional associations. Chi-squared tests were calculated (p<0.05). Results Valid responses were received from 422 participants with a mean age of 41 years old and 66% of female dentists. Most dentists considered their sel…

Varying Definitions of Abundance and Incomplete Assemblages Challenge the Generality of the Interspecific Abundance—Distribution Relationships
2011
Empirical evidence does not fully support the universal nature of the positive interspecific abundance—distribution relationship. We have earlier documented a negative relationship for butterfly species in Finland, but recently our view was again challenged using a small subset of Finnish butterflies as apparent evidence. Here we scrutinize the critique and identify some general conceptual challenges in analyses of interspecific abundance—distribution relationships. We identify the common problem that the abundance—distribution studies include only a small subset of species, and thus reveal only sample characteristics, not overall patterns in complete assemblages. Small subsets of species a…
Understanding german fdi in latin america and asia: a comparison of glm estimators
2020
The growth of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in developing countries over the last decade has attracted an intense academic and policy-oriented interest for its determinants. Despite the gravity model being considered a useful tool to approximate bilateral FDI flows, the literature has seen a growing debate in relation to its econometric specification, so that which is the best estimator for the gravity equation is far from conclusive. This paper examines the determinants of German outward FDI in Latin America and Asia for the period 1996-2012 by evaluating the performance of alternative Generalized Linear Model (GLM) estimators. Our findings indicate that Negative Binomial Pseudo Maximum …
