The full publication in Lancet Oncology of the Stockholm III trial helps us to understand that short-course radiotherapy in patients with localised rectal cancer could also be followed by delayed surgery.1 During more than 14 years, more than 800 patients with rectal cancer not showing unresectable features were randomised in a two-arm versus three-arm study with a non-inferiority design. Patients could be randomised to short-course radiotherapy (5×5 Gy) and immediate (within a week) versus delayed (4–8 weeks) surgery. The aim of this study is to find constructions of parental responsibility by analysing letters sent by readers to a newspaper on the topic of parenting and parental responsibility. The study takes a methodological approach, focusing on the meanings of responsibility and looking at different portrayals of parenthood. Three dimensions of responsibility (beginning responsibility, diminished sense of responsibility and obligating responsibility) emerged from the analysis. Antibiotics and food in the American press

AbstractThe emergence of antimicrobial resistant infections from food is well documented in the scientific literature but, in this kind of matter, the public opinion is an important policy driver and is vastly forged by traditional media. Here, we propose a text mining study through about 500 articles from two reference daily U.S. newspapers to assess the media coverage of this issue. Our results indicate that, since the middle of the 80s, the two journals considered here adopted a very different narrative around the issue, echoing civil society concerns in one case and the official discourse in the other.
