Effectiveness the source of nitrogen from NO3 and NH4 for Panicum maximum Jacq. growth in saline soil
2019
Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the source of nitrogen used by Panicum maximum Jacq. plants in salt soil. Experimenting pots in a greenhouse with a medium of saline soil. The 2 × 3 factorial design is used in repeated trials. The first factor is calcium sulfate (0 and 2 t ha−1), the second factor is N fertilizer includes (a) without nitrogen = N0, (b) 60 kg N of potassium nitrate (KNO3) and (c) 60 kg N of ammonium sulfate (NH4SO4). The parameters observed were nitrogen uptake, constant growth rate (CGR), biomass yield, crude protein content, NDF, and ADF. The interaction of calcium sulfate and nitrate fertilizer increases CGR, biomass yield, N, CP and NDF uptake. Interac…

LACKNER: DUDRICK emphasized the attempts to improve the immune competence It has been shown by Dr. CARPENTIER et al. from Belgium—(2)—that in improving the nitrogen balance he could directly increase the lymphocyte function which was measured in vitro by means of the lymphocyte transformation test.
A study of the effect of molecular and aerosol conditions in the atmosphere on air fluorescence measurements at the Pierre Auger Observatory
2010
The air fluorescence detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory is designed to perforin calorimetric measurements of extensive air showers created by Cosmic rays of above 10(18) eV. To correct these measurements for the effects introduced by atmospheric fluctuations, the Observatory contains a group Of monitoring instruments to record atmospheric conditions across the detector site, ail area exceeding 3000 km(2). The atmospheric data are used extensively in the reconstruction of air showers, and are particularly important for the correct determination of shower energies and the depths of shower maxima. This paper contains a summary of the molecular and aerosol conditions measured at the Pierr…

Photoelectrochemical evidence of nitrogen incorporation during anodizing sputtering--deposited Al-Ta alloys.
2015
Anodic films were grown to 20 V on sputtering-deposited Al–Ta alloys in ammonium biborate and borate buffer solutions. According to glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy, anodizing in ammonium containing solution leads to the formation of N containing anodic layers. Impedance measurements did not evidence significant differences between the dielectric properties of the anodic films as a function of the anodizing electrolyte. Photoelectrochemical investigation allowed evidencing that N incorporation induces a red-shift in the light absorption threshold of the films due to the formation of allowed localized states inside their mobility gap. The estimated Fowler threshold for the intern…
Palladium-Catalysed Amination of 1,8- and 1,5-Dichloroanthracenes and 1,8- and 1,5-Dichloroanthraquinones
2005
Diamino derivatives of anthracene and anthraquinone have been synthesised by palladium-catalysed coupling of 1,8-dichloroanthracene and 1,8-dichloroanthraquinone with a wide range of aliphatic and aromatic primary and secondary amines. The use of polyamines gave rise to a large number of new nitrogen- and oxygen-containing macrocycles incorporating anthracene or anthraquinone moieties. The method has also been employed for the preparation of bismacrocycles in which two cyclam or azacrown units are linked together by an anthracene bridge through C(sp2)−N bonds. Inducible Co-Stimulator Null MRL-Fas lpr Mice
2005
MRL/MpJ-Tnfrsf6lpr (MRL-Faslpr) mice develop a spontaneous T cell-dependent autoimmune disease that shares features with human lupus, including fatal nephritis, systemic pathology, and autoantibodies (autoAb). The inducible co-stimulator (ICOS) is upregulated on activated T cells and modulates T cell-mediated responses. To investigate whether ICOS has an essential role in regulating autoimmune lupus nephritis and the systemic illness in MRL-Faslpr mice, ICOS null (-/-) MRL Faslpr and ICOS intact (+/+) MRL-Faslpr strains (wild-type [WT]) were generated and compared. It was determined that in ICOS-/- MRL-Faslpr as compared with the WT strain, (1) there is a significant reduction in circulatin…
Use of electron spectroscopic imaging to determine element composition of the melanin granules in the stria vascularis of the guinea pig.
1998
Electron spectroscopic imaging (ESI) was used to analyze the element content of melanin granules in the stria vascularis seen in ultrathin sections of Spurr-embedded cochleae of the guinea pig. To determine element composition, ESI images were taken at different ionization edges, and non-specific background signals were subtracted digitally by an image processing system. The presence of calcium and nitrogen in the melanin granules could be demonstrated clearly. The calcium identified in the melanin granules was then compared with the spatial distributions of calcium binding sites after the application of an antimonate precipitation method, which was used to localize loosely bound calcium. Cold plasma processing of powdered Spirulina algae for spore inactivation and preservation of bioactive compounds
2020
Abstract Technologies for controlling microbial risks in a heat and humidity sensitive food powder are still limited. To preserve bioactive compounds while inactivating Bacillus subtilis spores in powdered Spirulina microalgae (Arthrospira platensis) with a non-thermal atmospheric plasma is the challenge presented in this paper. Artificially contaminated powder was treated with a custom-made surface micro-discharge cold atmospheric pressure plasma (SMD-CAPP) at the effective, specific surface energy of the plasma (Es) of 7–15 mW/cm2. The inactivation of spores in air plasma was faster than in nitrogen plasma. The final effect after 5 min exposure time of close to 2 log10 reduction could be …
Drugs modulating the biological effects of peroxynitrite and related nitrogen species.
2007
The term “reactive nitrogen species” includes nitrogen monoxide, commonly called nitric oxide, and some other remarkable chemical entities (peroxynitrite, nitrosoperoxycarbonate, etc.) formed mostly from nitrogen monoxide itself in biological environments. Regardless of the specific mechanisms implicated in their effects, however, it is clear that an integrated pharmacological approach to peroxynitrite and related species is only just beginning to take shape. The array of affected chemical and pathological processes is extremely broad. One of the most conspicuous mechanisms observed thus far has been the scavenging of the peroxynitrite anion by molecules endowed with antioxidant activity. T…
