En la Tesis se analizan los principales protagonistas y beneficiarios de la guerra en la baja edad media, las fuerzas de caballería pesada -los caballeros u hombres de armas- y la clase nobiliaria. Se busca responder a dos interrogantes: por un lado, cómo y dónde se integró la nobleza en la guerra, examinando la caballería como arma militar, su estructura y organización social; por otro lado, por qué participaba la nobleza en las campañas y cuál era la rentabilidad de su servicio, abordando la dimensión social y económica de su integración en los ejércitos. Objetivo:Evaluar la influencia en la calidad percibida de visión y en el ámbito laboral de los trabajadores usuarios de pantallas de visualización de datos que se asocia a la mejora de la función visual tras queratomileusis in situ con láser excimer (LASIK).Métodos:Estudio observacional y longitudinal en una población de 96 pacientes intervenidos de cirugía refractiva con láser excimer según técnica LASIK mediante aplicación de un cuestionario construido al efecto aplicado antes y después de cirugía por un observador independiente.Las edades de los pacientes variaban entre los 21 y los 60 años. This study was conducted to compare in vivo the acute effects of heated (+) and (-) gossypol cottonseed flours with those of soybean flour on lipid digestion and absorption in growing rats. Rats were fed by gastric intubation mixed [ 3 H]-oleic acid and [ 14 C]-triolein with heated flours or without flour (control). Lipid digestion and absorption were determined for 6 h after meal intubation. Both radioactivities recovered in gastrointestinal tract were significantly higher in rats fed (+) gossypol cottonseed flour than in all other groups. Modifications in the terminal alpha,beta-unsaturated gamma-methyl-gamma-lactone moiety or in the alkyl chain that links this terminal gamma-lactone with the alpha,alpha'-dihydroxylated THF system of the natural mono-tetrahydrofuranic acetogenins, annonacin and annonacinone, led to the preparation of eight semisynthetic derivatives. Their inhibitory effects on mitochondrial complex I is discussed and compared with that of the classical complex I inhibitor, rotenone.

Acetosyringone (3',5'-dimethoxy-4'-hydroxyacetophenone) is a well-known and very effective inducer of the virulence genes of Agrobacterium tumefaciens but the precise pathway of its biosynthesis in plants is still unknown. We have used two tobacco cell lines, cultured in suspension and exhibiting different patterns of accumulation of acetosyringone in their culture medium upon treatment with methyl jasmonate, to study different steps of acetosyringone biosynthesis. Detection and fluorescence imaging of biologic systems requires the implementation of efficient, robust and easy-to-use tools. Conventional fluorogenic probes currently used in microbiology lack efficiency since they are based on the single chemical modification of a fluorophore bearing an optically tunable reactive group, which often leads to incomplete fluorescence quenching. Abstract The interaction of monocationic quinine with zwitterionic dimyristoyl phosphatidylcholine (DMPC) and mixed negatively-charged dimyristoylphosphatidyl glycerol (DMPG) DMPC small unilamellar vesicles in the liquid-crystalline phase was investigated by steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy at pH 7 and 37°C. The maximum fluorescence emission peak at 383 nm, upon excitation at 335 nm, shifts to lower wavelength and decreases its intensity as the ratio between the total lipid and quinine concentrations increases.
