Abstract The increase of diameter in the silicon single crystal growth from 200 to 300 mm for industrial application, and to 400 or 450 mm for research, respectively, has triggered off the development of numerous new technologies like crystal-growth-supporting systems, low-power hot zones, high strength of static magnetic fields and new quartzglas qualities. Cooperative Spin Transition in the Two-Dimensional Coordination Polymer [Fe(4,4′-bipyridine)2(NCX)2]·4CHCl3 (X = S, Se)

Two new isostructural two-dimensional (2D) coordination polymers exhibiting spin crossover (SCO) behavior of formulation [Fe(4,4'-bipy)(2)(NCX)(2)]·4CHCl(3) (4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine; X = S [1·4CHCl(3)], Se [2·4CHCl(3)]) have been synthesized and characterized, and both undergo cooperative spin transitions (ST). For 1·4CHCl(3) the ST takes place in two steps with critical temperatures of T(c1)(down) = 143.1 K, T(c2)(down) = 91.2 K, T(c1)(up) = 150.7 K, and T(c2)(up) = 112.2 K. 2·4CHCl(3) displays half ST characterized by T(c)(down) = 161.7 K and T(c)(up) = 168.3 K. Abstract The interaction of PtCl42− with the new azaparacyclophane 2,5,8,11-tetraaza[12]paracyclophane (L2) has been studied by 1H, 13C and 195Pt NMR spectroscopy. Three different complexes are detected as a function of pH, all of them presenting cis-arrangement of nitrogen donors and chloride anions. In the first one, formed at acidic pH, the central nitrogen atoms of the macrocyclic are coordinating to Pt(II) while the benzylic nitrogens remain protonated. Deprotonation of these nitrogens brings about a reorganisation of the complex, and the platinum is then coordinated by one benzylic nitrogen and the consecutive nitrogen in the macrocycle. The reactions between [VO(acac)2] (acac– = acetylacetonate ion) or [VO(OPr)3] and trianionic tetradentate N,N-bis(2-methylene-4,6-alkylphenolate)aminoethanolate ligands, [L13– (4,6-dimethyl), L23– (4-methyl, 6-tert-butyl), L33– (4-tert-butyl, 6-methyl), L43– (4,6-di-tert-butyl)], afford mononuclear complexes [VO(L1)] (1) and [VO(L2)] (2) with a trigonal bipyramidal coordination sphere around the VV ion, or dinuclear octahedral complexes [V2O2(L3)2] (3) and [V2O2(L4)2] (4). In methanol an adduct with the formula [VO(L1)(MeOH)]·1/2MeOH (5) is obtained. According to multinuclear NMR spectroscopy all those complexes have a mononuclear structure in CDCl3 solutions. Substitution of copper by cobalt in blue copper proteins gives a paramagnetic metalloderivative suitable for paramagnetic NMR studies. A thorough analysis of the 1H-NMR spectrum of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Co(II)-azurin is presented here. All the observable contact-shifted signals as well as many other paramagnetic signals from protons placed up to about 1.0 nm around the metal center, including some residues belonging to functionally important parts of the protein like the hydrophobic patch and the His35 region, have been assigned. Abstract Novel head-to-head lithocholaphanes 6 and 11 have been synthesized via precursors 1 – 5 and 7 – 10 with overall good yields, and characterized by 1 H, 13 C, and 15 N NMR spectroscopy, ESI-TOF mass spectrometry, thermal analysis, and molecular modeling. In addition, the binding abilities of 6 and 11 towards alkali metal cations have been investigated via competitive complexation studies using equimolar mixtures of Li + , Na + , K + , and Rb + -cations, and cholaphanes 6 and 11 . The formation of cation–cholaphane adducts was detected by ESI-TOF mass spectrometry. A new sulfated steroidal derivative (fruticogenin A: 1-sulfo-australigenin-3-sodium sulphate, 1) and three new steroidal saponins named fruticoside K (3-sulfo-spirostan-25(27)-ene-1β,3β-diol-1-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 4)-β-D-fucopyranoside], 2), fruticoside L (3-sulfo-spirostan-25(27)-ene-1β,3β,6α-triol-1-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 4)-β-D-fucopyranoside], 3) and fruticoside M (spirostan-25(27)-ene-1β,3α-diol-1-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-α-L-rhamnopyranoside], 4) were isolated from the aerial parts of Cordyline fruticosa L. var. strawberries. PURPOSE Quantitative MRI (qMRI) allows assessing cortical pathology in multiple sclerosis (MS) on a microstructural level, where cortical damage has been shown to prolong T1 -relaxation time and increase proton density (PD) compared to controls. However, the evolution of these changes in MS over time has not been investigated so far.
