A study of personality subtypes in treatment seeking obese patients

Previous research has not been able to identify a distinct personality style that refers specifically to obese individuals. The purpose of this investigation was to explore whether different personality-based groups can be identified in obese individuals, as has been shown with eating disorder patients. Data were collected from 149 obese patients (BMI = 37.3, ± 6.4; 83% female) seeking dietary treatment and psychological support for their weight problems. Abstract The aim of the retrospective case-control study was to determine if the health-related quality of life of overweight and obese children is lower than for children with optimal weight, using the KIDSCREEN-52 survey of health-related quality of life. The study examined differences in health-related quality of life assessments between children with optimal weight, and obese and over-weight children, as well as evaluated parental assessments of the quality of life of their children.
