Ekstremitātes pazaudēšana ir traģisks notikums, taču dažreiz tā ir dzīvību glābjoša operācija. Līdz ar ekstremitātes pazaudēšanu cilvēka dzīve mainās, mainās cilvēka ķermeņa struktūra, kas būtiski ietekmē fizisku aktivitāti, psiholoģisko stāvokli un dzīves kvalitāti. Amputācijas rezultātā tiek būtiski mainīts dzīves veids, mainās cilvēku uztvere par paštēlu. Cilvēks bieži vien uzskata, ka kļuvis atkarīgs no kāda, aprūpējams, tāpēc ir šīs psiholoģiskās un adaptācijas problēmas. Darba mērķis: noskaidrot paštēla izmaiņas pēc ekstremitāšu amputācijas agrīnajā pēcoperācojas periodā. Pētījumam tika pielāgota SF36 anketa. Strategies for promoting neural regeneration are hindered by the difficulty of manipulating desired neural fates in the brain without complex genetic methods. The subventricular zone (SVZ) is the largest germinal zone of the forebrain and is responsible for the lifelong generation of interneuron subtypes and oligodendrocytes. Here, we have performed a bioinformatics analysis of the transcriptome of dorsal and lateral SVZ in early postnatal mice, including neural stem cells (NSCs) and their immediate progenies, which generate distinct neural lineages. Sterol oxidation in ready-to-eat infant foods during storage.

The effect of storage on sterol oxidation of ready-to-eat infant foods was evaluated. Two different flavor (honey -LH- or fruits-LF-) liquid infant foods, prepared with milk and cereals, were stored for 0, 2, 4, 7 and 9 months, at 25ºC. Sterol oxidation products (SOP) were extracted by cold saponification, purified by silica solid-phase and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC-mass spectrometry. -sitosterol was the most representative sterol, followed by cholesterol and campesterol. Papildus tika pētīts kādi algoritmi tiek apskatīti Latvijas Universitātē bakalaura studiju programmā "Datorzinātnes" uz doto brīdi un šie algoritmi tika izstrādāti vizualizācijas rīkā, kura izstrādes laikā tika pielietotas mācību laikā iegūtās praktiskās zināšanas tīmekļa izstrādē. Epidemiology and outcomes of hospital-acquired bloodstream infections in intensive care unit patients: the EUROBACT-2 international cohort study.

Purpose: In the critically ill, hospital-acquired bloodstream infections (HA-BSI) are associated with significant mortality. Granular data are required for optimizing management, and developing guidelines and clinical trials. Methods: We carried out a prospective international cohort study of adult patients (≥ 18 years of age) with HA-BSI treated in intensive care units (ICUs) between June 2019 and February 2021. Results: 2600 patients from 333 ICUs in 52 countries were included. 78% HA-BSI were ICU-acquired. Median Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score was 8 [IQR 5; 11] at HA-BSI diagnosis. A sequential mixed-method design was chosen for an exploration of students? expectations in Russia and Latvia as countries contrasting in macro-contextual conditions.
