The campomelic syndrome: review, report of 17 cases, and follow-up on the currently 17-year-old boy first reported by Maroteaux et al in 1971.

We report 17 cases of the campomelic syndrome (CS) and a follow-up of one of the original patients of Maroteaux et al who is now 17 years old. Our review is based on 97 patients, including our own. An infant with the CS presents at birth with spectacularly short and bowed femora and tibiae. The initial chest radiograph confirms the diagnosis by demonstrating extremely small bladeless scapulae and hypoplastic pedicles of many thoracic vertebrae. Ossification of the sternal segments, pubis, talus, and knee epiphyses is also retarded. Usually the hips are dislocated and talipes equinovarus deformities are present. Enhanced prolylhydroxylase activity in the posterior annulus fibrosus of canine intervertebral discs following long-term running exercise

The effect of long-term excercise on the intervertebral disc collagen concentration (hydroxyproline), collagen-synthesizing enzymes (prolyl-4-hydroxylase, PH, and galactosyl-hydroxylysyl glucosyltransferase, GGT) and hydroxypyridinium crosslinks was studied in ten female beagle dogs. The dogs were run on a treadmill for 1 year starting at the age of 15 weeks. The daily running distance was gradually increased to 40km, which distance the dogs ran for the final 15 weeks. Background: Epidural dumbbell-shaped chordomas are localized slow growing, and malignant/aggressive neoplasms. Here, we present a 62-year-old male with a T3-T4 dumbbell-shaped chordoma and reviewed the appropriate literature. Case Description: A 62-year-old male presented with a three-month history of thoracic pain. When the thoracolumbar magnetic resonance (MR) showed a T3-T4 dumbbell-shaped intracanalicular/extradural tumor, he underwent tumor removal. After the histological examination proved the lesion was a spinal chordoma, he underwent a secondary radical transthoracic tumor resection. Quantifying local aortic stiffness properties in vivo is acknowledged as essential to assess the severity of an ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm (ATAA). Recently, the LESI (local extensional stiffness identification) methodology has been established to quantify non-invasively local stiffness properties of ATAAs using electrocardiographic-gated computed tomography (ECG-gated CT) scans. New observations on a pottery fragment with incised deer from the Cova de l’Or (Beniarés, Alacant)

The red external surface of a vessel, decorated with an incised group of deer from Cova de l’Or, has been long considered characteristic of the application of the almagra technique. However, the results of the elemental analysis of this fragment, compared with the results of another vessel with almagra decoration from the same site, call into question the application of this technique in the first vessel. In addition, searching for parallels for the schematic incised motifs of the vessel, in both ceramic decorations and rock art, we have concluded that rather than deer the represented animals are hinds.

Esta Tesis doctoral se centra en del estudio de las dinámicas evolutivas durante el Neolítico Antiguo (7600 al 6200 cal BP) en el interfluvio Xúquer-Ebre. Para ello se ha considerado como marcador cultural el registro cerámico en combinación con las dataciones radiocarbónicas, puesto que este binomio se ha mostrado muy eficaz en relación a la temática de esta Tesis. En concreto, se ha utilizado el componente decorativo: las técnicas y la simetría de los diseños en la cerámica. En aquest treball, s’ha editat la part onzena, De si matex, de l’obra Oracions de Ramon de Ramon Llull segons els criteris de la NEORL. Per a fer-ho, s’ha transcrit la part del manuscrit de Montserrat esmentada i s’ha comparat amb el testimoni que es conserva a Madrid, el del convent de sant Isidor i sant Patrici de Roma i l’edició de mossèn Salvador Galmés (1935). També, s’ha creat un aparat crític en el qual es poden trobar els errors de l’escrivà i els afegitons –als marges o entre les línies– del copista, però també les variants amb el còdex de Madrid, el de Roma i l’edició de Galmés. Aktualitāte saistīta ar thoracic outlet sindroma sarežģīto diagnostiku. Vairumā gadījumu par šo sindromu aizmirst, kā dēļ netiek veikta atbilstoša diagnostika, patoloģijas atklāšanai.
