Identification of a Dynein Interacting Domain in the Papillomavirus Minor Capsid Protein L2
2006
ABSTRACT Papillomaviruses enter cells via endocytosis (H. C. Selinka et al., Virology 299:279-287, 2002). After egress from endosomes, the minor capsid protein L2 accompanies the viral DNA to the nucleus and subsequently to the subnuclear promyelocytic leukemia protein bodies (P. M. Day et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 101:14252-14257, 2004), suggesting that this protein may be involved in the intracytoplasmic transport of the viral genome. We now demonstrate that the L2 protein is able to interact with the microtubule network via the motor protein dynein. L2 protein was found attached to microtubules after uncoating of incoming human papillomavirus pseudovirions. Based on immunofluoresce…

Evidence for a novel cytoplasmic processing event in ribosome maturation in the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus
2010
In this work, we demonstrate the existence of a cytoplasmic processing step, never before described, involving both the pre-ribosomal subunits in the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus. Northern-blot hybridization, primer extension, S1 mapping experiments and in situ hybridizations allowed us to demonstrate that cytoplasmic processed particles are successively re-imported into the nucleus, where maturation of their RNAs is completed prior to being exported to the cytoplasm. Our findings lead to the proposal of a new model of ribosome maturation and shuttling. Moreover, preliminary data from our laboratory suggest that the maturation pathway we propose in P. lividus may not be unique to the se…
Core–Shell Nanorod Columnar Array Combined with Gold Nanoplate–Nanosphere Assemblies Enable Powerful In Situ SERS Detection of Bacteria
2016
Development of a label-free ultrasensitive nanosensor for detection of bacteria is presented. Sensitive assay for Gram-positive bacteria was achieved via electrostatic attraction-guided plasmonic bifacial superstructure/bacteria/columnar array assembled in one step. Dynamic optical hotspots were formed in the hybridized nanoassembly under wet-dry critical state amplifying efficiently the weak vibrational modes of three representative food-borne Gram-positive bacteria, that is, Staphylococcus xylosus, Listeria monocytogenes, and Enterococcus faecium. These three bacteria with highly analogous Raman spectra can be effectively differentiated through droplet wet-dry critical SERS approach combi…
Stepes strupastu apakšģints Sumeriomys individuālās uzvedības pārmaiņas plēsonības riska ietekmē
2016
Šā darba mērķis bija apskatīt individuālo uzvedību stepes strupastu apakšģints Sumeriomys sugām motivācijas un dažādu plēsonības risku stimulu ietekmē. Pētījumā izmantota atklātā lauka metode un tās modifikācijas plēsonības riska ietekmes pētīšanai. Aprakstīta dzīvnieku individuālā uzvedība olfaktorā un vizuālā plēsonības riska ietekmē un jauna objekta un izsalkuma ietekmē. Atklātā lauka metode veiksmīgi aprobēta individuālās uzvedības un plēsonības riska ietekmes pētījumu veikšanai. Pētījumā izmantoto sugu uzvedība apskatīta skalā „pārgalvīgs – piesardzīgs” un indivīdi iedalīti trīs uzvedības grupās. Būtiskākā plēsonības riska ietekme novērota galējām uzvedības grupām – ekstrēmi pārgalvīgi…
Solid-State Pyrolyses of Metal Phthalocyanines: A Simple Approach towards Nitrogen-Doped CNTs and Metal/Carbon Nanocables
2006
Solid-state pyrolysis of organometallic precursors has emerged as an alternative method for preparing carbon nanostructures such as carbon nanotubes (CNT) and carbon anions. The morphology of the tubes can be controlled by the nature of the precursors and the pyrolysis procedures, and micrometer long nanotubes, composed of metal carbide wires encased in a graphitic sheath. Cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc) as well as iron phthalocyanine were pyrolyzed at different temperatures to obtain CNTs. HRTEM and energy-dispersion X-Ray analysis disclosed that the core consisted of long, iron-containing single crystals and that the core was fully surrounded by crystallized graphic carbon. Iron-filled carbo…
Synthesis and evaluation of microtubule assembly inhibition and cytotoxicity of prenylated derivatives of cyclo-l-Trp-l-Pro
2000
The synthesis of three isoprenylated derivatives of cyclo-L-Trp-L-Pro is described. These substances have been evaluated for cytotoxic activity in rat normal fibroblast 3Y1 cells and have also been evaluated in vitro for the inhibition of microtubule assembly.
