Emergency sclerotherapy versus vasoactive drugs for bleeding oesophageal varices in cirrhotic patients.
2010
Background Emergency sclerotherapy is still widely used as a first line therapy for variceal bleeding in patients with cirrhosis, particularly when banding ligation is not available or feasible. However, pharmacological treatment may stop bleeding in the majority of these patients. Objectives To assess the benefits and harms of emergency sclerotherapy versus vasoactive drugs for variceal bleeding in cirrhosis. Search methods Search of trials was based on The Cochrane Hepato-Biliary Group Controlled Trials Register, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) in The Cochrane Library, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Science Citation Index Expanded through January 2010. Magnetic exchange interactions in the heteropoly complexes [M4(H2O)2(PW9O34)2]10− [M=Co(II) and Cu(II)]
1990
The magnetic properties of the heteropolyanions [M4(H2O)2(PW9O34)2]10− [M=Co(II) and Cu(II)] down to 4 K are reported. Their individual heteropoly molecules contain a rhomblike arrangement formed by four coplanar MO6 octahedra sharing edges. The magnetic properties support an intramolecular ferromagnetic exchange in the Co(II) tetramer, and antiferromagnetic exchange in the Cu(II) tetramer. These behaviors are discussed assuming anisotropic exchange in the Co(II) compound, and Heisenberg exchange in the Cu(II) compound. Carlos.Gomez@uv.es

Effects of ajugarins and related neoclerodane diterpenoids on feeding behaviour of Leptinotarsa decemlineata and Spodoptera exigua larvae
2001
Three naturally occurring ajugarins and seven semisynthetic derivatives of them, possessing different functionalities in the decalin part, together with two natural furoneoclerodane diterpenes, have been assessed as feeding behavior modifying agents of larvae of the generalist Spodoptera exigua and a specialist like Leptinotarsa decemlineata. Ajugarin I and some of its derivatives exhibited a significant antifeedant activity against larvae of S. exigua in both choice and no-choice assays. Conversely, the furoneoclerodane diterpenes only presented antifeedant activity against larvae of L. decemlineata. These results indicate that the biological action of the tested substances is strongly mod…
Methylresorcinarene: a reaction vessel to control the coordination geometry of copper(II) in pyridine N-oxide copper(II) complexes
2015
Pyridine and 2-picolinic acid N-oxides form 2 : 2 and 2 : 1 ligand : metal (L : M) discrete L2M2 and polymeric complexes with CuCl2 and Cu(NO3)2, respectively, with copper(ii) salts. The N-oxides also form 1 : 1 host-guest complexes with methylresorcinarene. In combination, the three components form a unique 2 : 2 : 1 host-ligand-metal complex. The methylresorcinarene acts as a reaction vessel/protecting group to control the coordination of copper(ii) from cis-see-saw to trans-square planar, and from octahedral to square planar coordination geometry. These processes were studied in solution and in the solid state via(1)H NMR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction.
Two polymorphs Ni(II) complexes containing the dicyanamide ligand: syntheses, structures and magnetic properties of {[Ni(meso-CTH)(μ1,5-dca)]ClO4}n a…
2004
Abstract Two polymorphs Ni(II) complexes {[Ni(meso-CTH)(μ1,5-dca)]ClO4}n (1) and [Ni(meso-CTH)][Ni(meso-CTH)(dca)2](ClO4)2 (2) have been obtained in the same synthesis from dicyanamide (dca) and [Ni(meso-CTH)](ClO4)2 and have been characterized by X-ray crystallography and magnetic measurements. Complex 1 is a 1D cationic polymeric zig-zag chain with single end-to-end dca bridges connecting Ni(II) ions in trans positions, whereas in compound 2 coexist two different types of Ni(II) mononuclear units, cationic square-planar and neutral octahedral. Variable-temperature magnetic measurements reveal weak ferromagnetic interactions across the single end-to-end dca bridges in 1, while for 2 the ma…
Complexes of organometallic compounds
1974
Abstract Novel 1/1 adducts have been obtained from the complex N , N ′-ethylenebis(salicylideneiminato)nickel(II) (NiSalen) with di- and mono-organotin(IV) chlorides, and their solid state configuration investigated by Mossbauer , IR and electronic spectroscopy and magnetic measurements. In coordinated NiSalen the square planar structure is maintained around Ni II , and the coordination to tin involves three-coordinate phenolic oxygens. The environment of Sn IV is judged to be octahedral in both types of compounds. A trans -R 2 , cis -Cl 2 configuration is advanced for R 2 SnCl 2 NiSalen.
Single-ion magnet behaviour in mononuclear and two-dimensional dicyanamide-containing cobalt(ii) complexes.
2016
Three cobalt(II) complexes of formulae [Co(dca)2(bim)4] (1), [Co(dca)2(bim)2]n (2) and [Co(dca)2(bmim)2]n (3) [dca = dicyanamide, bim = 1-benzylimidazole and bmim = 1-benzyl-2-methylimidazole] were prepared and structurally analyzed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Compound 1 is a mononuclear species where the cobalt(II) ion is six-coordinate with four bim molecules in the equatorial positions [Co–Nbim = 2.1546(15) and 2.1489(15) A] and two trans-positioned dca ligands [Co–Ndca = 2.1575(18) A] in the axial sites of a somewhat distorted octahedral surrounding. The structures of 2 and 3 consist of two-dimensional grids of cobalt(II) ions where each metal atom is linked to the other fo…
Hybrid materials containing organometallic cations and 3-D anionic metal dicyanamide networks of type [Cp*2M][M′(dca)3]
2004
A new series of hybrid materials of type [Cp*2M][M′(dca)3] has been prepared by cation templation and structurally characterised (M = Fe(III), Co(III); M′ = Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cd(II); dca− = N(CN)2−). The crystallographic analysis of [Cp*2Fe][Cd(dca)3] showed that the [Cd(dca)3]− anionic framework is of a symmetrical 3-D α-polonium type, containing octahedral Cd nodes and μ1,5-dca bridging ligands. The [Cp*2Fe]+ cations occupy the cube-like cavities within the framework. The cationic and anionic-framework sublattices remain magnetically independent and display susceptibilities, over the range 300 to 2 K, of a Curie–Weiss nature obtained by adding a S = 1/2 (Cp*2Fe+) or a S = 0 …
