Increased electron donor and electron acceptor characters enhance the adhesion between oil droplets and cells of Yarrowia lipolytica as evaluated by …

2003

The adhesion of methyl ricinoleate droplets to cells of the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica was investigated. A new cytometric method, relying on the double staining of fatty globules with Nile Red and of cells with Calcofluor, enabled us to quantify methyl ricinoleate droplet adhesion to cells precultured on a hydrophilic or on a hydrophobic carbon source. In this last case, droplet adsorption was enhanced and a MATS (microbial adhesion to solvents) test revealed that this increase was due to Lewis acid-base interactions and not to an increase in the hydrophobic properties of the cell surface. These preliminary results demonstrate that the developed cytometric method is promising for various app…

Some Computational Aspects of DISTANCE-SAT

2007

In many AI fields, one must face the problem of finding a solution that is as close as possible to a given configuration. This paper addresses this problem in a propositional framework. We introduce the decision problem distance-sat, which consists in determining whether a propositional formula admits a model that disagrees with a given partial interpretation on at most d variables. The complexity of distance-sat and of several restrictions of it are identified. Two algorithms based on the well-known Davis/Logemann/Loveland search procedure for the satisfiability problem sat are presented so as to solve distance-sat for CNF formulas. Their computational behaviors are compared with the ones …

A Translation of Pseudo Boolean Constraints to SAT

2006

Research note; This paper introduces a new CNF encoding of pseudo-Boolean constraints, which allows unit propagation to maintain generalized arc consistency. In the worst case, the size of the produced formula can be exponentially related to the size of the input constraint, but some important classes of pseudo-Boolean constraints, including Boolean cardinality constraints, are encoded in polynomial time and size. The proposed encoding was integrated in a solver based on the zCha SAT solver and submitted to the PB05 evaluation. The results provide new perspectives in the field of full CNF approach of pseudo-Boolean constraints solving.

Phytochemistry of Weigela x "kosteriana variegata" (Caprifoliaceae)

2018

International audience; One new triterpene glycoside 3-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 -> 4)-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 -> 3)]-beta-D-xyl opyranosyl-(1 -> 4)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1 -> 3)-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 -> 2)-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyloleanolic acid, was isolated from Weigela x "kosteriana variegata" (Caprifoliaceae), with three known ones. Their structures were characterized by a combination of mass spectrometry and 1D and 2D NMR spectrocopic techniques including H-1- and C-13 NMR, COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HSQC, and HMBC experiments. The toxicological properties of some glycosides were determined with a zebrafish-based assay. The results show that the most active compounds were toxic to the …

Chimney and Periscope Grafts Observed Over 2 Years After Their Use to Revascularize 169 Renovisceral Branches in 77 Patients With Complex Aortic Aneu…

2013

Purpose: To evaluate the performance of periscope and/or chimney grafts (CPGs) in the endovascular treatment of pararenal or thoracoabdominal aneurysms using off-the-shelf devices. Methods: Between February 2002 and August 2012, 77 consecutive patients (62 men; mean age 7369 years) suffering from pararenal aortic (n¼55), thoracoabdominal (n¼16), or arch to visceral artery aneurysms (n¼6) were treated with aortic stent-graft implantation requiring chimney and/or periscope grafts to maintain side branch perfusion. CPGs were planned in advance and were not used as bailout. A standardized follow-up protocol including computed tomographic angiography, laboratory testing, and clinical examination…

Assessment of the mobility of selected elements in bioleached mining waste from Zloty Stok (Poland)

2017

Different bioleaching processes were applied to mining wastes deposited in the highly polluted post-industrial region - Lower Silesia in Poland. The chemical characterization of the wastes before and after bioleaching processes was performed. The characterisation was based on the distribution of selected elements (Fe, Mn, As, Co, Cr, Cu and Ni) between operationally-defined phases. The phases were defined using a six-step extraction procedure optimised according to the properties of the studied mining wastes. The fractionation and total content of elements in wastes before and after various bioleaching treatments were studied using ICP MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry)and FA…

2018

Abstract A new steroid derivative, (24S)-3β-hydroxy-7β-methoxyergost-5-ene (1), was isolated along with eleven known compounds: 7α-hydroxysterol (2), β-sitosterol (3), oleanolic acid (4), betulinic acid (5), lupeol (6), swertiaperennin (7), decussatin (8), tetracosanoic acid (9) β-sitosterol-3-O-β- d -glucopyranoside (10), (2R,3S)-2,3-dihydro-2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxymethyl-5-(2-formylvinyl)-7-hydroxybenzofuran (11) and acacetin 6-C-β- d -glucopyranoside (12) from the tree bark and leaves of Anthocleista liebrechtsiana De Wild & T. Durand. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic (1D and 2D NMR) and mass spectrometric data. Compounds 2 and 7–10 have already bee…
