A Simulation Model of a Tandem Coordinated Supply Chain
2010
This paper presents a study of a coordinated production inventory-system. In the proposed model, any echelon considers its successors as part of its inventory system and generates the replenishment order on the basis of operational information of its partners. We show that the coordinated decision making allows elimination of information distortion along the chain. Furthermore, we show how the bottom-up transmission of inefficiencies, typical of traditional supply chains, is avoided.
Overview of the JET results
2015
Since the installation of an ITER-like wall, the JET programme has focused on the consolidation of ITER design choices and the preparation for ITER operation, with a specific emphasis given to the bulk tungsten melt experiment, which has been crucial for the final decision on the material choice for the day-one tungsten divertor in ITER. Integrated scenarios have been progressed with the re-establishment of long-pulse, high-confinement H-modes by optimizing the magnetic configuration and the use of ICRH to avoid tungsten impurity accumulation. Stationary discharges with detached divertor conditions and small edge localized modes have been demonstrated by nitrogen seeding. The differences in…
Toward Three-Dimensional Chemical Imaging of Ternary Cu–Sn–Pb Alloys Using Femtosecond Laser Ablation/Ionization Mass Spectrometry
2017
Femtosecond laser ablation/ionization mass spectrometry (LIMS) has been applied to probe the spatial element composition of three ternary Cu-Sn-Pb model bronze alloys (lead bronzes: CuSn10Pb10, CuSn7Pb15, and CuSn5Pb20), which were recently identified as high-performance cathode materials in the context of electro-organic synthesis (dehalogenation, deoxygenation) of pharmaceutically relevant building blocks. The quantitative and spatially resolved element analysis of such cathode materials will help in understanding the observed profound differences in their electrochemical reactivity and stability. For that purpose, we developed a measurement procedure using the LIMS technique which allows…
Determination of concentrations in ternary and quaternary molecular gas mixtures using femtosecond Raman spectroscopy
2002
Measurements of concentrations in gas mixtures of three and four molecular components are presented. They rely on a femtosecond time-resolved pump–probe technique based on Raman-induced polarization spectroscopy. The rotational time response of the molecular gas mixture is measured as a function of the pump–probe time delay. No selective frequency tunability is needed as the molecular rotational spectra are excited within the laser bandwidth. The results obtained from experiments performed at room temperature in N2O–CO2–N2 and N2O–CO2–O2–N2 mixtures are presented and the accuracy of the method is discussed. Dopamine interaction with a polyamine cryptand of 1H-pyrazole in the absence and in the presence of Cu(ii) ions. Crystal structure of [Cu2(H−1L](ClO4…
2000
The crystal structure of the binuclear Cu2+ complex [Cu2(H−1L)](ClO4)3 ·2H2O of the cryptand L = 1,4,7,8,11,14,17,20,21,24,29,32,33,36-tetradecaazapentacyclo[12.12.12.1 6,9.119,22,1,31,34]hentetraconta-6,9(41), 19(40), 21,31,34(39)-hexaene is presented; evidence for the formation in solution of binary L–dopamine and ternary Cu2+–L–dopamine complexes is presented.
Mn3+ in garnets III. Absence of Jahn-Teller distorition in synthetic Mn3+-bearing garnet
1985
The crystal structure of a ternary Mn3+-bearing garnet, close to the composition Gross34 Spess26 CaMnGt40 has been refined to a weighted R-value of 0.051 for 440 unique reflections. The lattice constant is 11.867(1) A, fractional atomic parameters for oxygen are x=0.0374 (2), y=0.0470 (2), and z=0.6532 (2). Refinement of site occupancies gave 0.81 (3) Ca+0.19 (3) Mn2+ in the eight coordinated site 24c and 0.64 (2) Al+0.36 (2) Mn3+ in the octahedral site 16a. No deviation from the cubic space group Ia3d has been observed, the Mn3+-bearing YO6 octahedron is nearly regular. Thus, the presence of the 3d 4-configurated ion Mn3+ does not cause Jahn-Teller distortion in this garnet structure.
Synthesis, structure and biological properties of several binary and ternary complexes of copper(II) with ciprofloxacin and 1,10 phenanthroline
2009
In this study, a new binary complex [Cu(HCip) 2 ](NO 3 ) 2 · 6H 2 O ( 1 ) has been synthesized and then characterized by X-ray structure analyses. In this compound, each ciprofloxacin acts as a bidentate ligand resulting in a crystallographically planar configuration; the nitrate anions are located in apical positions with an axial distance significantly larger than the equatorial distances, which would be consistent with a very weak metal ion interaction due to the Jahn–Teller effect. In addition, both the synthesis and characterization of two new ternary complexes of ciprofloxacin–copper(II)–1,10-phenanthroline, [Cu(phen)(Cip)](NO 3 ) · 4H 2 O ( 2 ) and Cu(phen)(HCip)(NO 3 ) 2 · H 2 O (…
Hf27Si6P10, a novel metal-rich compound with P2 groups
2000
The new ternary metal rich compound Hf27Si6P10 has been synthesized by reduction of HfP with Hf and Si; Hf27Si6P10 crystallizes in a new structure type, a characteristic and unexpected feature of which is the presence of P2 groups; the structural results are interpreted with the aid of high-level band structure calculations.
Scope-Oriented Thermoeconomic analysis of energy systems. Part I: Looking for a non-postulated cost accounting for the dissipative devices of a vapou…
2010
Abstract The authors of the main thermoeconomic methodologies developed in the last two decades have recently focused their efforts on the analysis of dissipative devices, i.e. those components whose productive purpose is neither intuitive nor easy to define. Coherent and unanimously accepted cost structures have been identified for dissipative components, while ambiguities still exist as concerns the cost allocation principles to be adopted. Being this aspect evidently cost-influencing, accurate analyses focused on the subjectivity of results are needed. This paper is structured in two parts. In the Part I an in-depth study of some critical issues arising from the thermoeconomic analysis o…
Dominance and leadership in research activities: Collaboration between countries of differing human development is reflected through authorship order…
2017
Introduction Scientific collaboration is an important mechanism that enables the integration of the least developed countries into research activities. In the present study, we use the order of author signatures and addresses for correspondence in scientific publications as variables to analyze the interactions between countries of very high (VHHD), high (HHD), medium (MHD), and low human development (LHD). Methodology We identified all documents published between 2011 and 2015 in journals included in the Science Citation Index-Expanded categories’ of Tropical Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Parasitology, and Pediatrics. We then classified the countries participating in the publications acco…
