User-Centered Development of Video Telephony for Servicing Mainly Older Users: Review and Evaluation of an Approach Applied for 10 Years

A research and development (R&D) approach has been applied to video telephony (VT) in northern Finland since 1994 by broad consortia. The focus has been on the considerable involvement of ergonomics within the engineering and implementation of VT. This multidisciplinary participatory ergonomic R&D approach (PERDA) is described briefly, in general and through two cases. The user-centeredness should be discernible in this sociotechnical systemic entity. Le transport narratif au coeur de l'expérience d'un dispositif transmédia

The aim of this paper is to describe how consumers experience transmedia devices. Thanks to transmedia major components (narrative universe; platforms and rabbit holes; interactivity; and temporality), once it adheres to it, the user of a transmedia devices lives an experience characterized by participation, immersion and commitment, and, at the end, it leads him to be attached to the object of narration. These results guide to propose a model which emphasizes the central place of narrative transportation in the context of fictional universes presented via transmedia strategy.

Early Health, Risk Aversion and Stock Market Participation

To examine the relationship between early health status and financial decisions in adulthood, we link information on birth weight in 1966 from the Northern Finland Birth Cohort to data from the Finnish Central Securities Depository over the period of 19952010. We find that persons predisposed to poor health status in early childhood (indicated by low birth weight) avoid participating in the stock market in adulthood. The link between birth weight and stock market participation is partially explained by the fact that poor early health status leads to risk aversion. Early health status is not significantly related to the portfolio’s value-growth tilt. nonPeerReviewed

Digital Activism in Russia: The Evolution and Forms of Online Participation in an Authoritarian State

AbstractThis chapter describes how digitalization has affected activism in Russia by tracing the evolution, particularity, and the most visible forms of online activism in the context of the increasingly authoritarian Russian state. It discusses online activism in relation to “connective action” and illustrates it with two examples of contentious political activism: the anti-corruption campaign led by Alexei Navalny and the struggle to protect online communication from state surveillance by the Telegram messenger service. In addition, the chapter presents examples of Russian activism, which do not directly challenge the Kremlin.

The productive use of material resources can be expected to support successful peer work. A tal fine, si è ritenuto opportuno preparare tale partecipazione mediante l’applicazione di due metodi d’intervento con cui migliorare il loro senso di autoefficacia, la loro capacità di gestire l’ansia da prestazione e l’immagine del loro «sé» attuale: la scrittura espressiva e il tutoraggio tra pari.
