Cilvēka parvovīrusa B19 infekcijas marķieru un aktivīna B klātbūtne pacientiem ar ME/CF
2021
Iespējams, ME/CFS iedalījums varētu būt ar infekciju saistīta saslimšana. Tādēļ šajā darbā tika pārbaudīta B19 infekcijas marķieru klātbūtne un aktivīna B, potenciālā biomarķiera, koncentrācija ME/CFS pacientiem. Pētījuma ietvaros noteica B19 specifisko IgG/IgM klases antivielu klātbūtni, aktivīna B koncentrāciju, lietojot ELISA testus, un B19 NS genoma sekvences nPCR pilnu asiņu un no šūnām brīvas asins plazmas DNS paraugos ME/CFS pacientiem un praktiski veseliem asins donoriem (PVAD). Role of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) of Klebsormidium nitens: Identification and characterization of partners
2021
National audience; Nitric oxide (NO) is an important cellular signaling molecule across kingdoms. During bioticor abiotic stresses, NO burst is detected in both plants and mammals although no sequenceencoding the well described mammalian NO synthase (NOS) is highlighted in plants. Comparedto terrestrial plants, some algae present transcripts encoding the NOS-like enzyme. Amongthem, Klebsormidium nitens the model alga to study the early transition step from aquatic algaeto land plants is found. As mechanisms governing NO synthesis and signaling in green lineageremain unclear, the study of NOS from K. nitens (KnNOS) through (i) the identification ofregulator proteins, (ii) the identification …
Role of nitric oxide synthases from Klebsormidium nitens: structural characterization and identification of protein partners
2022
Nitric oxide (NO) is an important cellular signalling molecule regulating various physiological processes, in both animals andplants. In animals, NO synthesis is mainly catalysed by NO synthase (NOS) enzymes. During biotic or abiotic stresses, NOSlike activities that are sensitive to mammalian NOS inhibitors have been detected in plants, although no sequences encodingthe well described mammalian NOS are highlighted in land plants. Interestingly, we identified NOS-like sequences in 20 algaespecies. Among them, NOSs are found in Klebsormidium nitens the model alga to study the early transition step from aquaticalgae to land plants. As mechanisms governing NO synthesis and signalling in green l…
Failure to differentiate Cryptosporidium parvum from C. meleagridis based on PCR amplification of eight DNA sequences.
1998
ABSTRACT In order to determine the specificities of PCR-based assays used for detecting Cryptosporidium parvum DNA, eight pairs of previously described PCR primers targeting six distinct regions of the Cryptosporidium genome were evaluated for the detection of C. parvum , the agent of human cryptosporidiosis, and C. muris , C. baileyi , and C. meleagridis , three Cryptosporidium species that infect birds or mammals but are not considered to be human pathogens. The four Cryptosporidium species were divided into two groups: C. parvum and C. meleagridis , which gave the same-sized fragments with all the reactions, and C. muris and C. baileyi , which gave positive results with primer pairs targ…
Study of the aminopeptidase N gene family in the lepidopterans Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner) and Bombyx mori (L.): Sequences, mapping and expression
2010
Aminopeptidases N (APNs) are a class of ectoenzymes present in lepidopteran larvae midguts, involved in the Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxins mode of action. In the present work, seven aminopeptidases have been cloned from the midgut of Ostrinia nubilalis, the major Lepidopteran corn pest in the temperate climates. Six sequences were identified as APNs because of the presence of the HEXXH(X)18E and GAMEN motifs, as well as the signal peptide and the GPI-anchor sequences. The remaining sequence did not contain the two cellular targeting signals, indicating it belonged to the puromycin-sensitive aminopeptidase (PSA) family. An in silico analysis allowed us to find orthologous sequences in Bo…
Essential oils as multi-target compounds for novel food safety strategies
This research work has been developed in the context of the potencial applications of essential oils as multi-target compounds for novel food safety strategies, such as active packaging technologies. Essential oils are aromatic oils derived from plants and usually extracted by hydrodistillation when intended to be used in food. There is an increasing interest in the antimicrobial properties of essential oils due to the possibility of using them to replace ‘synthetic’ preservatives in food or, in general, to reduce viable numbers of pathogens along the food chain.
