.Single-Ion Magnetic Behaviour in an Iron(III) Porphyrin Complex: A Dichotomy Between High Spin and 5/2-3/2 Spin Admixture

International audience; A mononuclear iron(III) porphyrin compound exhibiting unexpectedly slow magnetic relaxation, which is a characteristic of single-ion magnet behaviour, is reported. This behaviour originates from the close proximity (approximate to 550 cm(-1)) of the intermediate-spinS=3/2 excited states to the high-spinS=5/2 ground state. More quantitatively, although the ground state is mostlyS=5/2, a spin-admixture model evidences a sizable contribution (approximate to 15 %) ofS=3/2 to the ground state, which as a consequence experiences large and positive axial anisotropy (D=+19.2 cm(-1)). Physico-chemical characterisation of a non-conventional food protein source from earthworms and sensory impact in arepas

International audience; This study aimed to characterise a non-conventional protein source: a powder made from earthworms, and to evaluate its potential use as human food. The way it was prepared led to low solubility and wide particle size distribution. Sensory analysis was used to assess the acceptability and the organoleptic properties of maize-based pan-cakes fortified with this novel protein powder. Satisfying products were obtained with a substitution level of 5.5% (w/w) earthworm powder in pan-cakes. Many real life problems can be modelled as multiobjective optimization problems. Such problems often consist of multiple conflicting objectives to be optimized simultaneously. Multiple optimal solutions exist to these problems, and a single solution cannot be said to be the best without preferences given by a domain expert. Preferences can be used to find satisfying solutions: optimal solutions, which best match the expert’s preferences.
