Deoxyribonucleases in Herpes simplex Virus Type 1 and 2 Infected Primary Rabbit Kidney Cells

Abstract In primary rabbit kidney cells infected with herpes simplex virus four different neutral deoxyribonuclease activities can be detected by means of the deoxyribonuclease assay in DNA-containing polyacrylamide gels following their separation by discelectrophoresis. The method is suitable to follow independently the change in each activity of the different enzymes using only about 5 × 105 cells for each assay during the time-course of infection. Under these conditions one enzyme activity is constant, two disappear while the activity of a fourth one present only in infected cells, increases.

Development of competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays for boscalid determination in fruit juices

Abstract Boscalid is a modern, broad-spectrum carboxamide pesticide highly efficient against most fungal diseases affecting valuable crops. In this study, a boscalid-mimicking derivative with a six-carbon spacer arm replacing the chlorine atom at the pyridine ring of the target molecule was synthesized and coupled to carrier proteins. Following rabbit immunization, antibodies against this agrochemical were obtained for the first time, and they were characterised in terms of affinity and specificity, tolerance to solvents, and robustness to changes in buffer pH and ionic strength, using two assay formats. An Au(iii)–amino alcohol complex for degradation of organophosphorus pesticides

An Au(III)–amino alcohol complex has been used to cleave organophosphorous pesticides of the dithiophosphate family. P–S bond breaking was readily demonstrated by 1H NMR, 31P NMR and MS. Thiol fragment release was also demonstrated using 2,4-dinitrobenzenesulfonyl fluorescein ethyl ester as a fluorescent sensor.

Films for greenhouses are an attractive source of post-consumer plastic materials because they are mainly made of polyethylene and can be easily collected in large amounts in small zones. Mass spectra of halogenated esters 6—Methyl esters of some trihalogenated propanoic and butanoic acids

The mass spectral fragmentation of trihalogenated methyl esters, formed in the reactions of monochlorinated methyl propenoates and 2-butenoates with Cl2, BrCl and Br2, have been investigated. In most cases α-cleavage gives the base peak, [COOCH3]+, the peaks originating from the subsequent losses of one or two halogen atoms also being abundant. The primary loss of a halogen atom is more prominent in the C4 derivatives, Br˙ and Cl˙ being preferentially lost from the 2- and 3-positions, respectively. Radiolabeling of DOTATOC with the long-lived positron emitter 44Sc.

Abstract The positron-emitting radionuclide 44 Sc with a half-life of 3.97 h and a β + branching of 94.3% is of potential interest for clinical PET. As so far it is available from a 44 Ti/ 44 Sc generator in Mainz, where long-lived 44 Ti decays to no-carrier-added (nca) 44 Sc. The 44 Sc is a trivalent metal cation and should be suitable for complexation with many well established bifunctional chelators conjugated to peptides or other molecular targeting vectors. Use of stable isotopes to investigate dispersal of waste from fish farm as a function of hydrodynamics.

Stable isotopes were used to examine differential effects of fish farm waste on the water column and sediments. To achieve this objective, we chose 3 marine fish farms located along the coast of Sicily (Mediterranean Sea) as point-source disturbances, and a control area.
