Niewydolność serca - problem medyczny, ekonomiczny i społeczny
2019
Pierwsze wzmianki o chorobie, którą dzisiaj określamy jako niewydolność serca, pochodzą z czasów antycznych. Epidemiologia objawowej niewydolności serca jest dobrze poznana, szczególnie w Europie. Na naszym kontynencie niewydolność serca występuje u około 2% dorosłej populacji. W artykule przedstawiono: defnicję, epidemiologię i rokowanie chorych z niewydolnością serca. Opracowanie charakteryzuje aktualne metody farmakoterapii i leczenia interwencyjnego. Ważnym elementem postępowania u chorych z niewydolnością serca jest rehabilitacja medyczna i przestrzeganie zasad proflaktyki chorób sercowo-naczyniowych zalecanych przez Europejskie Towarzystwo Kardiologiczne. Artykuł porusza również temat…
CALIBRATION OF LÉVY PROCESSES USING OPTIMAL CONTROL OF KOLMOGOROV EQUATIONS WITH PERIODIC BOUNDARY CONDITIONS
2018
We present an optimal control approach to the problem of model calibration for L\'evy processes based on a non parametric estimation procedure. The calibration problem is of considerable interest in mathematical finance and beyond. Calibration of L\'evy processes is particularly challenging as the jump distribution is given by an arbitrary L\'evy measure, which form a infinite dimensional space. In this work, we follow an approach which is related to the maximum likelihood theory of sieves. The sampling of the L\'evy process is modelled as independent observations of the stochastic process at some terminal time $T$. We use a generic spline discretization of the L\'evy jump measure and selec…
Etiological factors of chronic hepatitis in Italy: a 2014 national survey.
2017
Background The last Italian prevalence survey on chronic hepatitis (CH) conducted in 2001 showed that the hepatitis C virus (HCV) was the main agent associated with CH. Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate epidemiological changes in CH occurring after 13 years. Patients and methods Enrollment of 1392 CH consecutive patients referred to 16 Italian liver units in 2014 scattered all over the country (four in the North, four in the Center, four in the South, and four in the Islands) was performed. Results The mean age of the patients was 58.3 years, with a sex ratio (male/female) of 1.5. HCV infection (also with other etiologies) continues to be the most prevalent etiology (58.1%). However…

"Alkakaa nyt oikeasti kuuntelemaan meitä nuoria!" : nuorten yhteiskunnallisen osallistumisen esteet Helsingin Sanomien Nuorten Postissa

Tiivistelmä ”Alkakaa nyt oikeasti kuuntelemaan meitä nuoria!” -Nuorten yhteiskunnallisen osallistumisen esteet Helsingin Sanomien Nuorten Postissa Annariikka Poikonen Pro gradu -tutkimus Sosiaalityö Yhteiskuntatieteiden ja filosofian laitos Jyväskylän yliopisto Syksy 2012 Ohjaajat: Johanna Kiili, Elina Virokannas, Mirja Satka Sivumäärä: 91 Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitän millaisia yhteiskunnallisen osallistumisen esteitä nuoret tuovat esiin mielipidekirjoituksissaan. Yhteiskunnallisella osallistumisella tarkoitan osallistumista nuorille tärkeisiin ja heitä koskettaviin asioihin. Ymmärrän nuorten osallistumisen myös osallistumiseksi yhteiskunnalliseen keskusteluun. Tarkastelen löydettyjä esteit…

A common biological basis of obesity and nicotine addiction
2013
Contains fulltext : 128630.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access) Smoking influences body weight such that smokers weigh less than non-smokers and smoking cessation often leads to weight increase. The relationship between body weight and smoking is partly explained by the effect of nicotine on appetite and metabolism. However, the brain reward system is involved in the control of the intake of both food and tobacco. We evaluated the effect of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) affecting body mass index (BMI) on smoking behavior, and tested the 32 SNPs identified in a meta-analysis for association with two smoking phenotypes, smoking initiation (SI) and the number of cigarettes smoked …
COVID Obesity: A One-Year Narrative Review
2021
On 11 March 2020, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO). This study focuses on a narrative review about the illness during the first year of the pandemic in relation to obesity. Databases were used to search studies published up to 8 December 2020. In total, 4430 articles and other scientific literature were found, and 24 articles were included in this one-year narrative review. The mean BMI value of severe COVID-19 patients ranged from 24.5 to 33.4 kg/m2, versus 2 for non-severe patients. Articles using the terms obesity or overweight without indicating the BMI value in these patients were common, but this is not useful, as the a…
Perception oro-sensorielle des lipides alimentaires et obésité
2016
International audience; The gustation is a dynamic system able to rapid physiological adaptations in response to on-going environmental changes that characterize our feed (rhythm, quality, quantity). Based on the modulation of taste sensitivity thresholds, this homeostatic system contributes to build the feeding behavior by driving the food choices. Therefore, a dysfunction of this regulatory system might impact on dietary habits and thus, ultimately, on health. Consistent with this assumption, recent data report that a diet-induced obesity is associated both with a dysfunction of the oral fat detection system and a preferential consumption of fat-rich diets in rats and mice. In humans, a s…
