Chemotherapy of metastatic colon cancer in France: A population-based study

2021

International audience; Aims: to describe, using data from a cancer registry in a well-defined French population, the therapeutic strategies and survival of patients with metastatic colon cancer (mCC).Methods: all patients with synchronous mCC diagnosed within the 2005-2014 period recorded in the digestive cancers registry of Burgundy were included. Results: 1286 mCC patients were included (57% male), of which 34.5% did not receive any antitumor treatment. Both, advanced age (≥75 years) and the Charlson comorbidity score ≥2 were significantly associated with the absence of antitumor treatment. Among the patients treated with chemotherapy, 59 and 33% received at least two and three lines, res…

Effectiveness of platinum wire microcoils for venous occlusion: A study on patients treated for venogenic impotence

1994

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of venous occlusions achieved by embolization with platinum microwire coils. Follow-up venographies in 19 patients, 1-20 months (average 8 months) after coil embolizations, were evaluated. Twenty-eight of 126 (22.2%) coil embolizations were found to be patent. Coils which had not formed or partially formed upon embolization had a patency/recanalization rate of 37.5% (12/32). Among coils which had formed nearly completely or completely only 16 of 95 (17%) showed venous patency. As coil embolization had been augmented by sclerotherapy in all patients, the effectiveness of long-term venous occlusion by platinum wire coils alone is pr…

Gemcitabine, oxaliplatin and weekly high-dose 5-FU as 24-h infusion in chemonaive patients with advanced or metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma: a m…

2006

ABSTRACT Background: Combinations of gemcitabine–oxaliplatin, gemcitabine–5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and 5-FU–oxaliplatin have synergistic activity and nonoverlapping adverse effect profiles. This trial assessed efficacy and safety of the triple combination gemcitabine–oxaliplatin and infusional 5-FU in patients with locally advanced (n = 11) or metastatic (n = 32) pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Patients and methods: A total of 43 eligible patients were treated with intravenous infusions of gemcitabine (900 mg/m2 over 30 min), followed by oxaliplatin (65 mg/m2 over 2 h) and 5-FU (1500 mg/m2 over 24 h) on days 1 and 8 of a 21-day cycle. Results: Among all 43 patients, the tumor response rate was 19% …

Synthesis, structural characterization, anti-proliferative and antimicrobial activity of binuclear and mononuclear Pt(II) complexes with perfluoroalk…

2018

Abstract In this paper we report the synthesis of four Pt(II) complexes with 5-perfluoroalkyl-1,2,4-oxadiazolyl-pyridine and 3-perfluoroalkyl-1-methyl-1,2,4-triazolyl-pyridine ligands. Two binuclear complexes [PtCl(pfibap)2](µ-Cl)2 (1), [Pt2(µ-Cl)2(pfioap)4]Cl2 (2), and two mononuclear [PtCl2(pfptp)] (3), [PtCl2(pfhtp)2] (4), were synthesized with the ligands: 2-(5-perfluoropropyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole-3yl)-pyridine (pfpop), 2-(5-perfluoroheptyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole-3yl)-pyridine (pfhop), 2-(3-perfluoropropyl-1-methyl-1,2,4-triazole-5yl)-pyridine (pfptp), 2-(3-perfluoroheptyl-1-methyl-1,2,4-triazole-5yl)-pyridine (pfhtp), and were structurally characterized. All complexes were tested in vitro on th…

Synthesis of Densely Packaged, Ultrasmall Pt02Clusters within a Thioether-Functionalized MOF: Catalytic Activity in Industrial Reactions at Low Tempe…

2018

The gram-scale synthesis, stabilization, and characterization of well-defined ultrasmall subnanometric catalytic clusters on solids is a challenge. The chemical synthesis and X-ray snapshots of Pt02 clusters, homogenously distributed and densely packaged within the channels of a metal-organic framework, is presented. This hybrid material catalyzes efficiently, and even more importantly from an economic and environmental viewpoint, at low temperature (25 to 140 °C), energetically costly industrial reactions in the gas phase such as HCN production, CO2 methanation, and alkene hydrogenations. These results open the way for the design of precisely defined catalytically active ultrasmall metal c…

Microstructured electrodeposited polypyrrole–phthalocyanine hybrid material, from morphology to ammonia sensing

2012

Hybrid materials combining polypyrrole with ionic macrocycles as counterions are electrosynthesized at the surface of platinum interdigitated electrodes. The chemical composition of the hybrid films is characterized by infrared reflexion absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS) and glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy (GDOES) and their morphology is studied by a range of techniques such as optical topomicroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The obtained films reveal to be more homogeneous, with smaller crystallites, compared to polypyrrole synthesized with small counterions. Finally, the films exhibit a higher sensitivity to ammonia, with a very good…

Crystallographic Visualization of a Double Water Molecule Addition on a Pt 1 ‐MOF during the Low‐temperature Water‐Gas Shift Reaction

2021

[EN] The low-temperature water-gas shift reaction (WGSR, CO+H2O H-2+CO2) is considered a very promising reaction -candidate for fuel cells- despite an efficient and robust catalyst is still desirable. One of the more prominent catalysts for this reaction is based on single Pt atoms (Pt-1) on different supports, which are supposed to manifold the reaction by the accepted mechanism for the general WGSR, i. e. by addition of one H2O molecule to CO, with generation of CO2 and H-2. Here we show, experimentally, that not one but two H2O molecules are added to CO on the Pt-1 catalyst, as assessed by a combination of reactivity experiments with soluble Pt catalysts, kinetic and spectroscopic measur…

Redox reactions in the Pt/TiO2–WO3/SiO2 planar system

2014

Abstract The thermal behavior of the titanium–tungsten adhesive layer (30–70 at.%) deposited on a SiO2 substrate followed by a thicker Pt layer was investigated. The resulting Pt/TiW/SiO2 planar system was annealed under air or vacuum. Morphological and chemical characterizations at different stages of the annealing, as a function of several parameters such as treatment atmosphere, annealing temperature and thickness of the Pt film were performed through surface science analyses. When annealing under air, even at mild temperature (773 K), the whole interlayer oxidizes while a low amount of tungsten diffuses through platinum film. This phenomenon is related to tungsten oxidation which acts a…

Nano-Jewels in Biology. Gold and Platinum on Diamond Nanoparticles as Antioxidant Systems Against Cellular Oxidative Stress

2010

Diamond nanoparticles (DNPs) obtained by explosive detonation have become commercially available. These commercial DNPs can be treated under Fenton conditions (FeSO(4) and H(2)O(2) at acidic pH) to obtain purer DNP samples with a small average particle size (4 nm) and a large population of surface OH groups (HO-DNPs). These Fenton-treated HO-DNPs have been used as a support of gold and platinum nanoparticles (≤2 nm average size). The resulting materials (Au/HO-DNP and Pt/HO-DNP) exhibit a high antioxidant activity against reactive oxygen species induced in a hepatoma cell line. In addition to presenting good biocompatibility, Au/HO- and Pt/HO-DNP exhibit about a two-fold higher antioxidant …

Iris-Like Tunable Aperture Employing Liquid-Crystal Elastomers

2014

A liquid-crystal elastomer (LCE) iris inspired by the human eye is demonstrated. With integrated polyimide-based platinum heaters, the LCE material is thermally actuated. The radial contraction direction, similar to a mammalian iris, is imprinted to the LCE by a custom-designed magnetic field. Actuation of the device is reproducible over multiple cycles and controllable at intermediate contraction states.
