L'articolo ricostruisce e discute il nucleo tematico dell'interpretazione del platonismo medievale elaborata da Beierwaltes e segnatamente della funzione centrale in esso del pensiero dell'Eriugena, mostrandone l'operatività nei successivi sviluppi della dialettica della contrazione.

This paper aims at reconstructing the critical debate about mimesis which occurs in the platonic literature of the twentieth century to show how much it influenced the thesis of contemporary Hermeneutics. Si dimostra che solo pochi autori di eta´ imperiale hanno letto il poema di Parmenide, che doveva essere difficile anche da trovare. El artículo acomete el análisis de seis «suspiros» estratégicamente seleccionados entre textos poéticos y narrativos importantes de la literatura clásica española (el Cid, el Romancero, el Abencerraje, Garcilaso, el Quijote, el Persiles). Atendiendo a factores textuales y contextuales, estrictamente literarios y ampliamente culturales, el análisis de esos suspiros muestra la relevancia de los mismos dentro de las obras en las que aparecen, así como sus implicaciones a diversos niveles, demostrando en último término el talento de los escritores que los han recreado.
