Design of PNIPAAM covalently grafted on halloysite nanotubes as a support for metal-based catalysts

A thermo-responsive polymer such as poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM) was covalently grafted on the external surface of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) by means of microwave irradiation. This nanomaterial was used as a support and stabilizer for palladium nanoparticles. The obtained HNT–PNIPAAM/PdNPs was characterized by means of TGA, SEM, EDS and TEM analyses. The palladium content of the catalyst was estimated to be 0.4 wt%. The stability of the catalytic material at different temperatures (below and above the PNIPAAM lower critical solution temperature) was tested in the Suzuki reaction under microwave irradiation. Attīstoties datorredzes nozarei, reāllaikā ir iespējams apstrādāt attēlu informāciju un veikt to manipulāciju. Darba mērķis ir izveidot algoritmu aptuvena objekta laukuma un tilpuma noteikšanai, izmantojot atskaites objektu, kam ir zināmi izmēri un pēc tam veikt aprēķināto izmēru salīdzinājumu ar reālajiem objektu izmēriem. Darba mērķis bija noskaidrot, kādas saistības pastāv starp darba noslodzi, darba-ģimenes konfliktu un lojalitātes pret organizāciju. Šajā pētījumā piedalījās vienas organizācijas darbinieki – 61 respondents vecumposmā no 19 līdz 73 gadiem (M=43,69; SD=12,06). Bakalaura darba pētījumā darba-ģimenes konflikta izpētei tika izmantota daudzdimensionālā darba-ģimenes konflikta skala (Multidimensional Measure of Work-Family Conflict - MDMWFC, Carlson, Kacmar & Williams, 2000), lojalitāti pret organizāciju noteikšanai tika izmantota lojalitāte pret organizāciju aptauja (Organizational Commitment Questionnaire, Meyer & Allen, 1990). Noninvasive Ventilation in Critically Ill Patients

Since its first application in the late 1980s, noninvasive ventilation (NIV) has been the first-line intervention for certain forms of acute respiratory failure. NIV may be delivered through the patient's mouth, nose, or both using noninvasive intermittent positive pressure ventilation or continuous positive airway pressure. When applied appropriately, NIV may reduce morbidity and mortality and may avert iatrogenic complications and infections associated with invasive mechanical ventilation. This article provides physicians and respiratory therapists with a comprehensive, practical guideline for using NIV in critical care. © 2015 Elsevier Inc.

This article addresses the disparity in the transduction pathways for hypoxic and hypercapnic stimuli in carotid body glomus cells. We investigated and reviewed the experimental evidence showing that the response to hypoxia, but not to hypercapnia, is mediated by 1,4,5-inositol triphosphate receptors (IP3R/s) regulating the intracellular calcium content [Ca2+]c in glomus cells. The rationale was based on the past observations that inhibition of oxidative phosphorylation leads to the explicit inhibition of the hypoxic chemoreflex.
