Molecular Engineering of Porphyrin‐Tapes/Phthalocyanine Heterojunctions for a Highly Sensitive Ammonia Sensor

2020

International audience; Modulating the interfacial charge alignments by molecular engineering in an organic heterojunction device is a smart strategy to improve its conductivity, which can be exploited in high performance gas sensors development. Herein, the fabrication of new organic heterojunction devices based on porphyrin tapes and phthalocyanines and their potentiality in ammonia sensing at different relative humidity (rh) are investigated. The devices are built using dry approach relying on oxidative chemical vapor deposition for simultaneous synthesis, doping and deposition of the porphyrin tape layer and physical vapor deposition of phthalocyanine layer. The association of the porph…

Novel meso-substituted porphyrins: Synthesis, characterization and photocatalytic activity of their TiO2-based composites

2009

Abstract Two series of novel meso-substituted porphyrins, namely 5,10,15,20-tetra[4-(3-phenoxy)-propoxy]phenyl porphyrin, the structural analogue 5,10,15,20-tetra[2-(3-phenoxy)-propoxy]phenyl porphyrin and their Co(II) Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes were synthesized. The compounds were characterized using various spectroscopic techniques and their molecular structure was proposed based on density functional theory calculations. The diverse properties of the porphyrin derivatives result from the different stereochemistry of the particular substituents at the meso site on the macrocycle and are controlled also by the coordinated metal. The 1H NMR spectrum of the free-base porphyrin showed a comp…

Greatly enhanced intermolecular π-dimer formation of a porphyrin trimer radical trications through multiple π bonds.

2010

A trefoil-like porphyrin trimer linked by triphenylamine (TPA-TPZn(3)) was synthesized. A three-electron oxidation of TPA-TPZn(3) forms a radical trication (TPA-TPZn(3)(3+)), in which each porphyrin ring undergoes a one-electron oxidation. The radical trication TPA-TPZn(3)(3+) spontaneously dimerizes to afford (TPA-TPZn(3))(2)(6+) in CH(2)Cl(2) . The characteristic charge-resonance band due to the charge delocalization over the π system of (TPA-TPZn(3))(2)(6+) was observed in the NIR region. The initial oxidation potential of TPA-TPZn(3) is negatively shifted relative to that of the corresponding monomer porphyrin, which results from the stabilization of the oxidized state of TPA-TPZn(3) as…

Three-Metal Coordination by Novel Bisporphyrin Architectures

2010

The synthesis and characterization of a new type of bisporphyrin system is reported where the two macrocycles are linked in a cofacial arrangement by a substituted carbazole bridge. The three nitrogen atoms of the carbazole bridge in the compounds may complex a metal ion and thus provide a new parameter for varying the physical properties and flexibility of the dyad after formation of a three-metal system. In the present study, four bis-metalloporphyrin complexes were synthesized and examined by electrochemistry and thin-layer spectroelectrochemistry in CH(2)Cl(2) and PhCN. Two of the examined compounds contain Cu(II) or Zn(II) porphyrins and a carbazole linker with a bound Cu(II) ion, givi…

Synthèse de nouveaux agents bimodaux hydrosolubles pour l'IRM, l'imagerie nucléaire, l'imagerie biphotonique et la génération de second harmonique

2015

The goal of my PhD studies was to synthesize new compounds for possible medical imaging applications. The first part of my thesis focused on the synthesis of heteroleptic ligands to achieve the chelation of two different metals aimed at addressing two types of medical imaging. We first synthesized porphyrins, which are well-known for the chelation of numerous transition metals. We focused on copper, whose copper-64 isotope is a β+ emitter usable in Positron Emission Tomography (PET). These porphyrins have been coupled with a DOTA derivative. This molecule, metallated with gadolinium, is well-known in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Our compounds display encouraging relaxivities for MRI ap…

Autofluorescence imaging of basal cell carcinoma by smartphone RGB camera

2015

The feasibility of smartphones for in vivo skin autofluorescence imaging has been investigated. Filtered autofluorescence images from the same tissue area were periodically captured by a smartphone RGB camera with subsequent detection of fluorescence intensity decreasing at each image pixel for further imaging the planar distribution of those values. The proposed methodology was tested clinically with 13 basal cell carcinoma and 1 atypical nevus. Several clinical cases and potential future applications of the smartphone-based technique are discussed.

Templated synthesis of a large and flexible covalent porphyrinic cage bearing orthogonal recognition sites.

2012

A large covalent cage incorporating two porphyrins attached by four long and flexible polyether chains each bearing two 3-pyridyl ligands was synthesized from a DABCO-templated olefin metathesis reaction. The X-ray structure of the cage with the DABCO coordinated inside the cavity to the two zinc(II) porphyrins reveals a highly symmetric structure.

Functionally relevant electric-field induced perturbations of the prosthetic group of yeast ferrocytochrome c mutants obtained from a vibronic analys…

2006

We have measured the low temperature (T = 20 K) absorption spectra of the N52A, N52V, N52I, Y67F, and N52AY67F mutants of ferrous Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker's yeast) cytochrome c. All the bands in the Q0- and Q(v)-band region are split, and the intensity distributions among the split bands are highly asymmetric. The spectra were analyzed by a decomposition into Voigtian profiles. The spectral parameters thus obtained were further analyzed in terms of the vibronic coupling model of Schweitzer-Stenner and Bigman (Schweitzer-Stenner, R.; Bigman, D. J. Phys. Chem. B 2001, 7064-7073) to identify parameters related to electronic and vibronic perturbations of the heme macrocycle. We report th…

Structural relations and PbPb zircon ages for the Makuti gneisses: evidence for a crustal-scale Pan-African shear zone in the Zambezi Belt, northwes…

1999

Abstract The Makuti Group of northwest Zimbabwe is composed of mafic and intermediate biotite-rich gneisses interlayered with quartzofeldspathic gneisses of granitic composition, and minor sedimentary units. The gneisses have experienced a multi-staged metamorphic history, including an early high temperature-high pressure event and subsequent reworking at upper- to mid-amphibolite-facies conditions. They are positioned along the strongly deformed, southern margin of the east-west trending Zambezi Belt, and have been correlated with supracrustal gneiss units along the northern margin of the Zimbabwe Craton. The Makuti Group is characterised by an intensely developed gneissic layering and com…

Efficient Degradation of 4-Nitrophenol by Using Functionalized Porphyrin TiO2 Photocatalysts Under Visible Irradiation

2007

Abstract The novel porphyrins 5,10,15,20-tetra-[4-(3-phenoxy)-propoxy]phenyl porphyrin, H2Pp(a) and 5,10,15,20-tetra-[2-(3-phenoxy)-propoxy]phenyl porphyrin, H2Pp(b) and their corresponding copper(II) complexes CuPp(a), CuPp(b) were synthesized and characterized by using various spectroscopic techniques. The photocatalytic activity of polycrystalline TiO2 samples impregnated with H2Pp(a), H2Pp(b), CuPp(a) and CuPp(b) as sensitizers have been investigated by carrying out the photo-degradation of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) as a probe reaction in aqueous suspension and under visible light. The maximum photocatalytic activity was obtained using TiO2 loaded with a monolayer of the copper porphyrin CuP…
