Structural DNA nanotechnology provides a viable route for building from the bottom-up using DNA as construction material. The most common DNA nanofabrication technique is called DNA origami, and it allows high-throughput synthesis of accurate and highly versatile structures with nanometer-level precision. Here, it is shown how the spatial information of DNA origami can be transferred to metallic nanostructures by combining the bottom-up DNA origami with the conventionally used top-down lithography approaches. Quantification of propagating and standing surface acoustic waves by stroboscopic X-ray photoemission electron microscopy.

The quantification of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) in LiNbO3 piezoelectric crystals by stroboscopic X-ray photoemission electron microscopy (XPEEM), with a temporal smearing below 80 ps and a spatial resolution below 100 nm, is reported. The contrast mechanism is the varying piezoelectric surface potential associated with the SAW phase. Thus, kinetic energy spectra of photoemitted secondary electrons measure directly the SAW electrical amplitude and allow for the quantification of the associated strain. Sural nerve biopsy studies in leigh's subacute necrotizing encephalomyelopathy

Peripheral neuropathy marked by reduced nerve conduction velocities was found in four unrelated children, between the ages of 15 months and 9 years, whose autopsies revealed Leigh's subacute necrotizing encephalomyelopathy. Sural nerve biopsies disclosed primary demyelination and remyelination, as well as loss of myelinated and unmyelinated axons. The use of morphometric and electron microscopic studies shows that these techniques may reveal peripheral neuropathy in Leigh's disease more often than light microscopic methods alone.

We illustrate a reliable and accelerated isolation routine for mucosal epithelial cells, which thereupon can be used for soft tissue engineering. This is highly important in the field of soft tissue engineering because mucosal equivalents are frequently usable in several surgical fields like gynecology, urology, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, maxillofacial surgery, and many others. Indexes are essential in data management systems to increase the speed of data retrievals. Widespread data structures to provide fast and memory-efficient indexes are prefix tries. Implementations like Judy, ART, or HOT optimize their internal alignments for cache and vector unit efficiency. While these measures usually improve the performance substantially, they can have a negative impact on memory efficiency. In this paper we present Hyperion, a trie-based main-memory key-value store achieving extreme space efficiency. Association of liver steatosis with lipid oversecretion and hypotriglyceridaemia in C57BL/6j mice fed trans-10, cis-12-linoleic acid

AbstractConjugated linoleic acids (CLA) have recently been recognized to reduce body fat and plasma lipids in some animals. This study demonstrated that the steatosis accompanying the fat loss induced by trans-10,cis-12-C18:2 (CLA2) and not cis-9,trans-11-C18:2 (CLA1) isomer in C57BL/6j mice was not due to an alteration of the liver lipoprotein production that was even increased. The 3-fold decrease in plasma triacylglycerol contents and the induction of mRNA expression of low-density lipoprotein receptors concomitantly observed in CLA2-fed mice suggested an increase in the lipoprotein clearance at the level of the liver itself.
