The 16-kDa protein of Mycobacterium tuberculosis represents an important antigenic target during bacillary latency and, consequently, should be considered as candidate subunit vaccine component. In this study, we have used CD4 T cell clones that recognize the peptide p91-110, an immunodominant and genetically permissive epitope, in the context of five different HLA-DR molecules and truncated and substituted variants of this peptide, to identify the minimal binding sequence (HLA-DR-binding core) and the minimal stimulatory sequence (TCR-binding core), as well as the residues that contact HLA-DR molecules and the TCR. Mapping antigenic epitopes of potato virus Y with antibodies affinity-purified by using overlapping synthetic peptides

Synthetic, overlapping peptides representing the entire amino acid sequence of potato virus Y (PVY) coat protein were used to affinity-purify antibodies from polyclonal antisera to PVY. In testing the binding of the purified antibodies to PVY particles, antigenic epitopes were identified. The N-terminal and C-terminal regions of the PVY coat protein were found to contain most of the antigenic epitopes. The results will facilitate the development of detection methods for PVY based on synthetic peptides.

This paper is related to the problem of finding a good notion of rectifiability in sub-Riemannian geometry. In particular, we study which kind of results can be expected for smooth hypersurfaces in Carnot groups. Our main contribution will be a consequence of the following result: there exists a -hypersurface without characteristic points that has uncountably many pairwise non-isomorphic tangent groups on every positive-measure subset. The example is found in a Carnot group of topological dimension 8, it has Hausdorff dimension 12 and so we use on it the Hausdorff measure . Lipschitz Carnot-Carathéodory Structures and their Limits

AbstractIn this paper we discuss the convergence of distances associated to converging structures of Lipschitz vector fields and continuously varying norms on a smooth manifold. We prove that, under a mild controllability assumption on the limit vector-fields structure, the distances associated to equi-Lipschitz vector-fields structures that converge uniformly on compact subsets, and to norms that converge uniformly on compact subsets, converge locally uniformly to the limit Carnot-Carathéodory distance. A parallel radix-4 block cyclic reduction algorithm

A conventional block cyclic reduction algorithm operates by halving the size of the linear system at each reduction step, that is, the algorithm is a radix-2 method. An algorithm analogous to the block cyclic reduction known as the radix-q partial solution variant of the cyclic reduction (PSCR) method allows the use of higher radix numbers and is thus more suitable for parallel architectures as it requires fever reduction steps. Fractional Maximal Functions in Metric Measure Spaces

Abstract We study the mapping properties of fractional maximal operators in Sobolev and Campanato spaces in metric measure spaces. We show that, under certain restrictions on the underlying metric measure space, fractional maximal operators improve the Sobolev regularity of functions and map functions in Campanato spaces to Hölder continuous functions. We also give an example of a space where fractional maximal function of a Lipschitz function fails to be continuous.
Variable scale effects on hillslope soil erosion during rainfall-runoff processes

Abstract The variation of soil erosion across scales remains a controversial issue. A theoretical framework, coupling the normalized Green-Ampt equation for infiltration, 1D kinematic wave model for overland flow, and WEPP erosion modeling approaches for soil erosion, was used to explain and quantify the direct effect of scale on the soil erosion process. The results show that the relation between interrill erosion and slope length accords with a power-law decreasing trend, while the relation of rill erosion versus slope length shows a power-law increasing trend. Uvođenje novih tehnologija i upravljanje informacijama neprestano pružaju priliku za diferencijaciju unutar uslužnog sektora, a posebice u hotelijerstvu. Napredak informacijsko komunikacijske tehnologije (ICT) dao je pozitivan doprinos ugostiteljstvu. Oblikovanje usluga i jačanje lojalnosti klijenata uvelike ovise o dostupnosti podataka o njima. Stoga je svrha ovog istraživanja ispitati primjenu novih tehnologija i upravljanja podacima u hotelijerstvu iz perspektive menadžera i korisnika usluga. Cilj rada je utvrditi postoje li razlike u njihovoj uporabi i percepciji između visokokategoriziranih hotela u Italiji i Hrvatskoj.

Tämän tutkielman tavoitteena on käsitellä numeerisia yhtälönratkaisumenetelmiä matematiikan aineenopettajan näkökulmasta ja toimia lukion numeerisen matematiikan kurssin opettajan taustamateriaalina. Keskeinen sisältö käsittelee Lipschitz-jatkuvuutta, iteraatiota sekä Newton-Raphsonin menetelmää. Yhtälönratkaisu ja kahden lausekkeen yhtäsuuruuksien vertailu palautuu aina matematiikan klassiseen ongelmaan funktion nollakohdan etsimisestä. Keskeiset numeerisen yhtälönratkaisun metodit ovat rekursio ja iteraatio. Rekursio tarkoittaa oleellisesti toistoa.
