An extended catalogue of ncRNAs in Streptomyces coelicolor reporting abundant tmRNA, RNase-P RNA and RNA fragments derived from pre-ribosomal RNA lea…

2022

Streptomyces coelicolor is a model organism for studying streptomycetes. This genus possesses relevant medical and economical roles, because it produces many biologically active metabolites of pharmaceutical interest, including the majority of commercialized antibiotics. In this bioinformatic study, the transcriptome of S. coelicolor has been analyzed to identify novel RNA species and quantify the expression of both annotated and novel transcripts in solid and liquid growth medium cultures at different times. The major characteristics disclosed in this study are: (i) the diffuse antisense transcription; (ii) the great abundance of transfer-messenger RNAs (tmRNA); (iii) the abundance of rnpB…

Toll Like Receptors as Sensors of the Tumor Microbial Dysbiosis: Implications in Cancer Progression

2021

Microbiota is a complex ecosystem of active microorganisms resident in the body of mammals. Although the majority of these microorganisms resides at the distal gastrointestinal tract, high-throughput DNA sequencing technology have made possible to understand that several other tissues of the human body host their own microbiota, even those once considered sterile, such as lung tissue. These bacterial communities have important functions in maintaining a healthy body state and the host immune system has evolved multiple mechanisms by which maintaining a symbiotic relationship with the microbiota. The maintenance of this dialogue allows the induction of protective responses to pathogens and r…

Measurement of the top quark charge in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector

2013

A measurement of the top quark electric charge is carried out in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider using 2.05 fb[superscript −1] of data at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. In units of the elementary electric charge, the top quark charge is determined to be 0.64 ± 0.02 (stat.) ± 0.08 (syst.) from the charges of the top quark decay products in single lepton t[¯ over t] candidate events. This excludes models that propose a heavy quark of electric charge −4/3, instead of the Standard Model top quark, with a significance of more than 8σ.

Identification of omic profiles for diagnosis and monitoring of bladder cancer

2019

The Effects of Transcutaneous Spinal Direct Current Stimulation on Neuropathic Pain in Multiple Sclerosis: Clinical and Neurophysiological Assessment

2019

Background: Central neuropathic pain represents one of the most common symptoms in multiple sclerosis (MS) and it seriously affects quality of life. Spinal mechanisms may contribute to the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain in MS. Converging evidence from animal models and neurophysiological and clinical studies in humans suggests a potential effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tc-DCS) on neuropathic pain. Spinal application of DCS, i.e., transcutaneous spinal DCS (ts-DCS), may modulate nociception through inhibition of spinal reflexes. Therefore, ts-DCS could represents an effective, safe and well-tolerated treatment for neuropathic pain in MS, a largely unexplored topic. This…

Hipofīzes un aizkuņģa dziedzeru neiroendokrīno audzēju audu un šūnu modeļu transkriptoma izpēte

2021

Alterations in blood sera metabolome and blood transcriptome in hospitalized COVID-19 patients

2021
