RETRACTED: trans-Tetrakis(pyridine)dichloroiron(II) as catalyst for Suzuki cross-coupling in ethanol and water

2008

Aryl bromides can be coupled with phenylboronic acid in moderate to excellent yields using a transtetrakis(pyridine)dichloroiron(II) catalyst. The Suzuki–Miyaura reaction can be carried out under air in ethanol and aqueous ethanol with low catalyst loading. Addition of TBAB dramatically increases the yields in aqueous ethanol or in water. trans-Tetrakis(pyridine)dichloroiron(II) offers an environmental and less expensive method for the synthesis of biaryl compounds. This is the first example of an iron– pyridine catalyst for Suzuki cross-coupling.

Titanium and vanadium catalysts with oxazoline ligands for ethylene-norbornene (co)polymerization

2018

A series of catalysts, (Py-ox)TiCl4, (Py-box)TiCl4, (Py-ox)VCl3, (Py-box)VCl3, SIL/(Py-ox)VCl3, SIL/(Py-box)VCl3, with 2-(1,3-oxazolin-2-yl)pyridine (Py-ox) and 2,6-bis(1,3-oxazolin-2-yl)pyridine (Py-box) ligands, silica support modified by 1-[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]pyridinium ethylchloroaluminate ionic liquid (SIL), activated by AlEt2Cl, AlEtCl2, and methylaluminoxane (MMAO) were studied in ethylene polymerization and ethylene-norbornene copolymerization. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction is given for both Py-ox and Py-box. The complexation was confirmed by NMR and ESI-MS methods. All complexes were found to be active in ethylene polymerization with better performance of the vanadium cata…

Interaction of half-sandwich alkylmolybdenum(III) complexes with B(C6F5)3. The X-ray structure of [CpMo(η4-C4H6)(μ-Cl)(μ-CH2)(O)MoCp][CH3B(C6F5)3]

2001

Abstract The reactions of the half-sandwich molybdenum(III) complexes CpMo(η 4 -C 4 H 4 R 2 )(CH 3 ) 2 , where Cpη 5 -C 5 H 5 and RH or CH 3 , with equimolar amounts of B(C 6 F 5 ) 3 have been investigated in toluene. EPR monitoring shows the formation of an addition product which does not readily react with Lewis bases such as ethylene, pyridine, or PMe 3 . The analysis of the EPR properties and the X-ray structure of a decomposition product obtained from dichloromethane, [CpMo(η 4 -C 4 H 6 )(μ-Cl)(μ-CH 2 )(O)MoCp][CH 3 B(C 6 F 5 ) 3 ], indicate that the borane attack has occurred at the methyl position.

Design of pharmacophoric group containing 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives and determination of spectrum of pharmacological activities

2017

Hydrogen bonding versus π-stacking in ferromagnetic interactions. Studies on a copper triazolopyridine complex

2013

Magnetic susceptibility measurements show weak ferromagnetic exchange between the copper(II) ions of a novel triazolopyridine derivative [Cu(TPT)(H2O)2(BF4)](BF4)·2H2O (TPT = 3-{6-([1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrid-3-yl)-2-pyridyl}-[1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine). Mononuclear [Cu(TPT)(H2O)2(BF4)]+ entities are connected through O–H⋯F, C–H⋯F and π⋯π interactions to give a 3D framework. Ferromagnetic properties are discussed on the basis of the interactions network.

Mn(II) complexes of scorpiand-like ligands. A model for the MnSOD active centre with high in vitro and in vivo activity

2015

Manganese complexes of polyamines consisting of an aza-pyridinophane macrocyclic core functionalised with side chains containing quinoline or pyridine units have been characterised by a variety of solution techniques and single crystal x-ray diffraction. Some of these compounds have proved to display interesting antioxidant capabilities in vitro and in vivo in prokaryotic (bacteria) and eukaryotic (yeast and fish embryo) organisms. In particular, the Mn complex of the ligand containing a 4-quinoline group in its side arm which, as it happens in the MnSOD enzymes, has a water molecule coordinated to the metal ion that shows the lowest toxicity and highest functional efficiency both in vitro …

A fluorescent molecular sensor for pH windows in traditional and polymeric biocompatible micelles: comicellization of anionic species to shift and re…

2011

A new approach is presented to obtain fluorescent sensors for pH windows that work in water and under biomimetic conditions. A single molecule that features all-covalently linked components is used, thus making it capable of working as a fluorescent sensor with an OFF/ON/OFF response to pH value. The components are a tertiary amine, a pyridine, and a fluorophore (pyrene). The forms with both protonated bases or both neutral bases quench the pyrene fluorescence, whereas the form with the neutral pyridine and protonated amine groups is fluorescent. The molecular sensor is also equipped with a long alkyl chain to make it highly hydrophobic in all its protonated and unprotonated forms, that is,…

Synthesis and Antioxidative Properties of 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydropyridine Derivatives with Different Substituents in 4-Position

2022

Natural products are an excellent source of inspiration for the development of new drugs. Among them, betalains have been extensively studied for their antioxidant properties and potential application as natural food dyes. Herein, we describe the seven-step synthesis of new betalamic acid analogs without carboxy groups in the 2- and 6-position with an overall yield of ~70%. The Folin–Ciocalteu assay was used to determine the antioxidant properties of protected intermediate 21. Additionally, the five-step synthesis of betalamic acid analog 35 with three ester moieties was performed. Using NMR techniques, the stability of the obtained compounds towards oxygen was analyzed.

A novel class of interpenetrated 3-D network of a dimeric cupric-tetracarboxylate unit

2002

The hydrothermal reaction of Cu(II), fumaric acid and 4,4′-bipyridine (bpy) in equimolar amounts at 160 °C resulted in a new type of two-fold interpenetrating 3-D coordination network composed of tetracarboxylate dicopper(II) units bridged by bipyridine spacers.

Synthesis and antiproliferative activity of thiazolyl-bis-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridines and indolyl-thiazolyl-pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridines, nortopsentin analogu…

2015

Two new series of nortopsentin analogues, in which the imidazole ring of the natural product was replaced by thiazole and indole units were both substituted by 7-azaindole moieties or one indole unit was replaced by a 6-azaindole portion, were efficiently synthesized. Compounds belonging to both series inhibited the growth of HCT-116 colorectal cancer cells at low micromolar concentrations, whereas they did not affect the viability of normal-like intestinal cells. A compound of the former series induced apoptosis, evident as externalization of plasma membrane phosphatidylserine (PS), and changes of mitochondrial trans-membrane potential, while blocking the cell cycle in G2/M phase. In contr…
