Parisuhde pikkulapsiperheissä : kyselytutkimus äideille lapsiperheiden psykososiaalisesta hyvinvoinnista pienessä maaseutukunnassa
2013
Suomalaisessa lapsiperhetutkimuksessa parisuhteen hyvinvoinnin ja perheen muiden psykososiaalisten tekijöiden keskinäistä yhteyttä on tutkittu toistaiseksi melko vähän. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa tarkasteltiin pikkulapsiperheiden äitien parisuhteen kokemuksien liittymistä seuraaviin perheiden psykososiaaliseen hyvinvointiin liittyviin tekijöihin: erilaiset sosiodemografiset tekijät, sosiaalinen tuki, vanhemmuus ja lastenkasvatus, vanhempien ja lasten tunne-elämän ongelmat, avun tarpeet sekä erilaiset ongelmat kuten toimeentulo ja jaksaminen. Tutkimuksen aineisto kerättiin postikyselynä keväällä 2005 alle kouluikäisten lasten vanhemmilta vajaan 4000 asukkaan maaseutukunnassa. Vastausprose…

Psychometric Comparisons of Benevolent and Corrective Humor across 22 Countries: The Virtue Gap in Humor Goes International
2018
Recently, two forms of virtue-related humor, benevolent and corrective, have been introduced. Benevolent humor treats human weaknesses and wrongdoings benevolently, while corrective humor aims at correcting and bettering them. Twelve marker items for benevolent and corrective humor (the BenCor) were developed, and it was demonstrated that they fill the gap between humor as temperament and virtue. The present study investigates responses to the BenCor from 25 samples in 22 countries (overall N = 7,226). The psychometric properties of the BenCor were found to be sufficient in most of the samples, including internal consistency, unidimensionality, and factorial validity. Importantly, benevolen…
Anti-phospholipase A2 and anti-inflammatory activity of Santolina chamaecyparissus
2000
The activity of the Santolina chamaecyparissus methanol extract was tested against the phospholipase A2 (PLA2)-induced mouse paw edema and in vitro inhibition of PLA2 activity. After fractionation, only the dichloromethane extract was active against the PLA2 in vitro test. In addition, it reduced the edema induced by arachidonic acid, and by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate in a multidose test. After chromatography on silicagel and gel filtration on Sephadex, and using an in vitro anti-PLA2 assay-guided process, we have isolated and identified from the dichloromethane extract the flavone nepetin and four sesquiterpenes.
Reproducibility and concordance of 4 clinically developed programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays in triple-negative brea…
2020
Abstract Background Atezolizumab (an anti–PD-L1 antibody) has shown clinical activity alone or in combination with nab-paclitaxel in patients (pts) with first-line metastatic TNBC who have PD-L1 expression on their tumour-infiltrating immune cells (IC). We analysed the performance of 4 PD-L1 IHC assays for PD-L1 IC expression in TNBC. Methods Thirty archival TNBC tissue specimens were selected from a set of 107 based on PD-L1 IC expression per VENTANA SP142 ( 5%: 8 cases), to represent the distribution of PD-L1 IC–positivity in the pivotal atezolizumab studies (Emens et al., SABCS 2018; JAMA Oncol 2019). Serial histologic sections were stained with VENTANA SP142 and SP263, and DAKO 22C3 and…
Erratum to: ‘A cost and performance comparison of Public Private Partnership and public hospitals in Spain’
2016
Public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives are extending around the world, especially in Europe, as an innovation to traditional public health systems, with the intention of making them more efficient. There is a varied range of PPP models with different degrees of responsibility from simple public sector contracts with the private, up to the complete privatisation of the service. As such, we may say the involvement of the private sector embraces the development, financing and provision of public infrastructures and delivery services. In this paper, one of the oldest PPP initiatives developed in Spain and transferred to other European and Latin American countries is evaluated for first time…
Are go/no-go tasks preferable to two-choice tasks in response time experiments with older adults?
2015
Epub ahead of print 02/11/2015 Recent research has shown that, in response time (RT) tasks, the go/no-go response procedure produces faster (and less noisy) RTs and fewer errors than the two-choice response procedure in children, although these differences are substantially smaller in college-aged adults. Here we examined whether the go/no-go procedure can be preferred to the two-choice procedure in RT experiments with older adults (i.e. another population with slower and more error-prone responding than college-aged individuals). To that end, we compared these response procedures in two experiments with older adults (Mage = 83 years): a visual word recognition task (lexical decision) and a…
Evaluating the statistical methodology of randomized trials on dentin hypersensitivity management
2017
The present study aimed to evaluate the characteristics and quality of statistical methodology used in clinical studies on dentin hypersensitivity management. An electronic search was performed for data published from 2009 to 2014 by using PubMed, Ovid/MEDLINE, and Cochrane Library databases. The primary search terms were used in combination. Eligibility criteria included randomized clinical trials that evaluated the efficacy of desensitizing agents in terms of reducing dentin hypersensitivity. A total of 40 studies were considered eligible for assessment of quality statistical methodology. The four main concerns identified were i) use of nonparametric tests in the presence of large samples…
