Abstract Three-dimensional spheroidal cell aggregates of adipose stem cells (SASCs) are a distinct upstream population of stem cells present in adipose tissue, with enhanced regeneration properties in vivo. Theoretical study on travelling web dynamics and instability under non-homogeneous tension

Problems of dynamics and stability of a moving web, travelling between two rollers at a constant velocity, are studied using analytical approaches. Transverse vibrations of the web are described by a partial differential equation that includes the centrifugal force, in-plane tension, elastic reaction and nonstationary inertial terms. The model of a thin elastic plate subjected to bending and non-homogeneous tension is used to describe the bending moment and the distribution of membrane forces. AbstractWe consider a definition of p,δ-variation for real functions of several variables which gives information on the differentiability almost everywhere and the absolute integrability of its partial derivatives on a measurable set. This definition of p,δ-variation extends the definition of n-variation of Malý and the definition of p-variation of Bongiorno. We conclude with a result of change of variables based on coarea formula.
ZrO2 Acting as a Redox Catalyst

Surface defects are discussed and reviewed with regards to the use of ZrO2 in applications involving interactions with CO, H2, CH4, CO2, water and hydrocarbons. Studies of catalytic partial oxidation of methane reveal that part of the surface lattice oxygen in terraces can be removed by methane at high temperatures (e.g. 900 °C). The reaction proceeds via a surface confined redox mechanism. The studies presented here also highlight that defects play a decisive role in the water–gas-shift reaction, since the reaction is likely carried out via OH groups present at defect sites, which are regenerated by dissociating water. In this study we report various new efficient ways to synthesize and modify in situ magnetite (Fe3O4) iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs). Thanks to an apparatus especially developed for this new method of grafting, the NPs have been synthesized and functionalized by 3,4-dihydroxyhydrocinnamic acid (DHCA) or 3,4-dihydroxy-L-phenylalanine (LDOPA) in one step and under hydrothermal conditions using varying concentration ratios ([organic molecules]/[ferrous and ferric ions]). The use of near and mid infrared spectroscopy and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) to determine the concentration of mineral elements in Spanish human diets was investigated. Thirty-five commercial baby foods, 6 children fast food menus and 13 university canteen menu samples were analysed by infrared and XRF spectroscopy and spectra evaluated by using reference data obtained by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). MRI of the lungs using hyperpolarized helium-3 (3He) allows the determination of intrapulmonary oxygen partial pressures (pO2). The need to separate competing processes of signal loss has hitherto required two different imaging series during two different breathing maneuvers. In this work, a new imaging strategy to measure pO2 by a single series of consecutive scans is presented. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated in three healthy human volunteers. Maps and histograms of intrapulmonary pO2 are calculated. Changes in the oxygen concentration of the inhaled gas mixture are well reproduced in the histograms. Abstract Heterogeneous photocatalytic and thermal-catalytic reactions are here presented focusing the differences and similarities between the two processes. When possible, the comparison was made for the same chemical reaction in the presence of an inorganic material playing the role of both catalyst or/and photocatalyst.
