ChemInform Abstract: New Route to Herbertanes via a Suzuki Cross-Coupling Reaction: Synthesis of Herbertenediol.
2010
Abstract The synthesis of herbertenediol, a relevant member of the herbertane-type sesquiterpene family, is described. The synthesis is based on a new general approach to this group of sesquiterpenes where the herbertane skeleton is constructed using a Suzuki cross-coupling reaction and a [2,3]-sigmatropic Still–Wittig rearrangement as key synthetic steps.
ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of Two Natural 8-Oxo-β-cyperone Derivatives from (-)- Santonin.
2010
Abstract This paper reports on the chemical transformations of (−)-santonin into (+)-8-oxo-β-cyperone and (+)-12-hydroxy-8-oxo-β-cyperone involving 8-oxo group introduction and elaboration of the side chain.
New route to herbertanes via a Suzuki cross-coupling reaction: synthesis of herbertenediol

4-Chloro-N-methyl-N-nitroaniline
1998
The molecular structure of (p-ClC 6 H 4 )(CH 3 )NNO 2 (or C 7 H 7 ClN 2 O 2 ) contains a planar NNO 2 nitroamino group which is twisted about the N-C phenyl bond by ca 68° from the plane of the aromatic ring. The structural data are in agreement with the spectral results and indicate that there is no conjugation between the aromatic sextet and the nitroamino group. There are no specific intermolecular interactions.
Reflections on the Nature of the Periodic Table of the Elements: Implications in Chemical Education
2014
The periodic table of the elements (PTE) results essential to understand our nature and place in the whole of beings. The same happens with our food, drugs, materials, etc. A series of questions were asked to introduce PTE and provide answers. The ideas in PTE should be valued by the number of questions that they generate. The PTE was related to electron configurations. The emergence of elements (nucleosynthesis) in physics was explained. The PTE results essential to understand our nature and place in the whole of beings. The same happens with our food, drugs, materials, etc. Schwarz and Rich asked a series of questions (Qs) to introduce PTE and provided answers. The ideas on PTE should be …
Approaches for the introduction of fluorinated substituents into [1,2,3]Triazolo[1,5-a]pyridines
2014
Abstract [1,2,3]Triazolo[1,5-a]pyridines functionalization with a trifluoromethyl group has been achieved for the first time using different synthetic strategies. Furthermore, these scaffolds have been employed as starting material in the synthesis of new 2,6-disubstituted pyridines containing the trifluoromethyl group, compounds that are not available using other methodologies. A fluorine-mediated triazolopyridine dimerisation is described, improving the previously known synthetic method. Preliminary studies focused on exploring triazolopyridines reactivity with electrophilic fluorine have revealed a new approach for the obtainment of imidazopyridines.
Mechanical evaluation for three-dimensional printed orthodontic springs with different heights-in vitro study
2021
Background The orthodontic spring materials in use have a significant influence on the applied forces. The prerequisite to identify the in vitro< force deflection of the CAD/CAM fabricated springs is considered mandatory to identify the material characteristics. The purpose of the present investigation was to evaluate the mechanical load on 3D printed springs using different coil heights. Material and Methods The springs were digitally designed with different coil heights using Autodesk Netfabb CAD software (San Rafael, CA, USA). Test specimens were manufactured using 3D printable experimental flexible material (Code: BM2008, GC, Tokyo, Japan). The specimens were divided according to the co…
Spectroscopic studies of Tl containing high frequency electrodeless lamps
2014
In this work we estimate gas temperature from OH rotational spectrum at 306.4 nm and C 2 Swan band at 516.5 nm in thallium containing lamps during two working regimes: stable generation and self-modulation regime. The usage of both molecules allowed us to estimate gas temperature in different zones of the discharge. The measurement results show that the central part of discharge has temperature higher for about 400 K than in vicinity of lamp inner walls. The measurement results of self-modulation regime showed that rotational temperature variations are similar to that of atomic and molecular spectral line intensities with period being around 1 minute. More detailed analysis of temporal beha…
Electrical conductivity as a state indicator for the start-up period of anaerobic fixed-bed reactors.
2016
The aim of this work was to analyse the applicability of electrical conductivity sensors for on-line monitoring the start-up period of an anaerobic fixed-bed reactor. The evolution of bicarbonate concentration and methane production rate was analysed. Strong linear relationships between electrical conductivity and both bicarbonate concentration and methane production rate were observed. On-line estimations of the studied parameters were carried out in a new start-up period by applying simple linear regression models, which resulted in a good concordance between both observed and predicted values. Electrical conductivity sensors were therefore identified as an interesting method for monitori…
