Increasing responsibility, safety, and trust through a dialogical approach: A case study in couple therapy for psychological abusive behavior

2014

This article reports an analysis of conjoint therapy for psychological intimate partner violence, treated via a dialogical approach. The article reviews current controversies surrounding this treatment modality and its outcome. The dialogical approach is presented as an appropriate method for analyzing and understanding the issue of violence, but it is emphasized that the focus on communication does not involve a return to a systemic perspective on intimate partner violence. Four important dimensions are identified as emerging in conjoint treatment for psychological intimate partner violence, namely responsibility, safety, trust, and the role of the therapists. Psychosis, symbol, affectivity 1: etiopathogenesis and treatment through analytical psychology

2021

This is the first of two papers concerning our study into an integrated approach to psychotic disorders, conducted at the University of Palermo's Psychiatry Unit Polyclinic over approximately 15 years. Here we will explore and reflect upon the acute psychotic condition mainly from a theoretical and conceptual perspective, while in the second paper we will explore the clinical perspective. From the point of view of psychopathology, and in the light of C.G. Jung's conceptualization of analytical psychology, as well as calling on contributions from other authors from the systemic-relational and post-psychoanalytic field, we will clarify the ideas developed over these last few years by our team…

In the introduction to The Second Sex, Simone de Beauvoir clarifies her philosophical approach to embodiment and sexual difference by writing: “However, it is said, in the perspective which I adopt—that of Heidegger, Sartre and Merleau-Ponty—that if the body is not a thing, it is a situation: it is our grasp upon the world and an outline of our projects.”

By using data from five independent samples (total N=2472), validity evidence was provided based on the internal structure of the q…
