Suomalainen maaseutu koki 1800-luvun loppupuoliskolla muutoksen. Omavaraisesta maataloudesta siirryttiin uusien ja tehokkaampien työmenetelmien avulla teolliseen maanviljelyyn 1870-luvulta lähtien. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the relationship between leptin and the cluster of abnormalities often referred to as the metabolic syndrome. The serum leptin concentration, body mass index (BMI), percent body fat, total fat mass (FM), waist and hip circumference, waist to hip ratio (WHR), prevalence of hypertension, and triglyceride (TG), lipoprotein, and uric acid concentration were determined in 86 type 2 diabetic (n = 59) and healthy (n = 27) subjects. In this article, we analyse the construction of Finnish constitutional bilingualism in the aftermath of gaining independence, a traumatic civil war and during the construction of a new republican polity based on regulated parliamentarism in 1917–1919. We take a multi-sited and historically informed approach to the dynamics of political discourse at the parliamentary level, analysing the discursive cycles of people, nationality and nation. Studies on mini-fiction started during the 1980s. Today this literary genre, previously seen as a literary exception or amusement, has enthusiasts, theorists, practitioners, and thousands of pages dedicated to its analysis. This article examines the current state of Latin American, and Peruvian in particular, mini-fiction and compares three theoretical studies about mini-fiction in Peru by three young Peruvian researchers – Rony Vásquez, Elton Honores and Oscar Gallegos – who propose a periodization of the national mini-fiction which confirms how in the present Peruvian mini-fiction is alive, at a theoretical and pragmatic level.

Anti-hyperuricemic and nephroprotective effects of extracts from Chaenomeles sinensis (Thouin) Koehne in hyperuricemic mice

Clinically, Chaenomeles sinensis (Thouin) Koehne (C. sinensis) has been used to treat hyperuricemia and gout. However, the exact mechanism of action is still unknown. In the present study, the ethyl acetate fraction of C. sinensis fruit extract (CSF-E) was separated. Potassium oxonate (PO)-induced hyperuricemic mice and normal mice were administered with CSF-E at 60, 120 and 180 mg kg-1, respectively for 7 days. Serum uric acid, creatinine and BUN levels, liver oxidative damage, and serum and hepatic XOD activities were primarily measured using assay kits.
