LDH uzticamība ne-Hodžkina limfomas ārstēšanas terapijas efektivitātēs izvērtēšanai
2022
Targeted oligonucleotide delivery in human lymphoma cell lines using a polyethyleneimine based immunopolyplex.
2002
The efficacy of antisense gene therapy depends on efficient delivery of oligonucleotides into targeted cells. Although polyethyleneimine based polyplexes have been reported as good transfection reagents, they are inefficient in lymphoid cell transfection. We report the construction of an immunopolyplex, a targeted nonviral vector based on a polyplex backbone and its application for oligonucleotide transfer on human lymphoma cell lines. The salient characteristic of immunopolyplex lies in the possibility of easily replacing the targeting element (antibody), leaving the polyplex backbone intact. Furthermore, a study was made of the influence of endocytosis inhibitors on immunopolyplex activit…
Osteonecrosis detected by whole body magnetic resonance (WB-MRI) in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma treated by BEACOPP
2016
Purpose: The purpose of our retrospective study was to assess the incidence of osteonecrosis in patients who received different chemotherapies. Methods and Materials: We evaluated the Whole Body Magnetic Resonance (WB-MRI) scans performed on 42 patients with Hodgkin Lymphoma treated by three chemotherapy regimens (6 ABVD, 2 ABVD + 4 BEACOPP, 2 ABVD + 8 BEACOPP), excluding the patients with main risk factors for osteonecrosis. Results: Six out of 7 patients (85.7%) who received 8 BEACOPP and 1 out of 5 patients (20%) treated by 4 BEACOPP presented osteonecrosis, with a statistically significant difference of frequency between the two groups of patients (p<0.05); no injury has been reporte…
New amide and dioxopiperazine derivatives from leaves of Breynia nivosa
2017
The first chemical investigation of leaves of Breynia nivosa from Nigeria resulted in the isolation of two new amide derivatives breynivosamides A and B (1 and 2) and two new dioxopiperazine derivatives breynivosines A and B (4 and 5) together with seven known compounds (3, 6-11). The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by 1D, 2D NMR and HRESIMS data as well as by comparison with the literature. All isolated compounds were tested for the cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities. Only cristatin A (6) showed cytotoxicity against the L5178Y mouse lymphoma cell line with an IC50 value of 13.9μM while breynivosamide A (1) exhibited moderate antimicrobial activity against Mycobacterium …
Tiroidectomia in urgenza per linfoma primitivo della tiroide
2006
Objective: A case of acute wheezing causing primitive thyroid lymphoma observed ay the Operative Unit of General and Thoracic Surgery of the University "P. Giaccone" of Palermo, Italy, is reported. Experimen tal design: Diagnostic, clinical and prognostic indication, evaluation of effectveness of radical surgical treatment and follow-up. Intervention: Emergency radical surgical treatment (debulking) and surgical tracheostomy (tracheal infiltration) Results: Complete recovery with "restitutio ad integrum". No relapse were recorded ad short follow-up. Conclusions: Total thyroidectomy in front of uncertain cytology with the suspect of Hashimoto's treatment or acute wheezing nr localized neopla…
New Potential Therapeutic Approach for the Treatment of B-Cell Malignancies Using Chlorambucil/Hydroxychloroquine-Loaded Anti-CD20 Nanoparticles
2013
Current B-cell disorder treatments take advantage of dose-intensive chemotherapy regimens and immunotherapy via use of monoclonal antibodies. Unfortunately, they may lead to insufficient tumor distribution of therapeutic agents, and often cause adverse effects on patients. In this contribution, we propose a novel therapeutic approach in which relatively high doses of Hydroxychloroquine and Chlorambucil were loaded into biodegradable nanoparticles coated with an anti-CD20 antibody. We demonstrate their ability to effectively target and internalize in tumor B-cells. Moreover, these nanoparticles were able to kill not only p53 mutated/deleted lymphoma cell lines expressing a low amount of CD20…
Multifunctional Poly(ethylene glycol)s
2011
In the rapidly evolving multidisciplinary field of polymer therapeutics, tailored polymer structures represent the key constituent to explore and harvest the potential of bioactive macromolecular hybrid structures. In light of the recent developments for anticancer drug conjugates, multifunctional polymers are becoming ever more relevant as drug carriers. However, the potentially best suited polymer, poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), is unfavorable owing to its limited functionality. Therefore, multifunctional linear copolymers (mf-PEGs) based on ethylene oxide (EO) and appropriate epoxide comonomers are attracting increased attention. Precisely engineered via living anionic polymerization and d…
Prognostic Factors in Childhood Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: Long Term Results of the International ALCL99 Trial
2020
With the aim of describing the long-term follow-up and to define the prognostic role of the clinical/pathological/molecular characteristics at diagnosis for childhood, adolescent and young adults affected by anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), we analyzed 420 patients aged up to 22 years homogeneously treated within the international ALCL99 trial. The 10-year progression free survival (PFS) was 70% and overall survival was 90%, rare late relapses occurred but no secondary malignancies were reported. Among clinical/pathological characteristics, only patients presenting a small cell/lymphohistiocytic (SC/LH) pattern were independently associated with risk of failure (hazard ratio = 2.49). …
